5. the first picture still puts me in tears....
That is one group I hope to never be a member of. Now they're speaking up so that other parents won't have to suffer the loss of their children to this war.

14. Marvelous
A large crowd today, obviously. Others have shared their wonderful experiences in words, and your pictures capture the historical perspective in another beautiful way.

18. Great pics Gloria!
It was nice meeting out there today. I'll try to get my pics up by tomorrow. We had the best time today. aQuArius and I were right by the front of the truck when Cindy walked by and we both hugged her. The mother and daughter who have their husband/father in Iraq right now, was the most heartbreaking speech. When the daughter started to cry, my heart broke for her. I want her father to come home alive and I want him home now.

19. I'm so glad I got the chance to meet you!
I ran into VelmaD and I explained how I wanted to call you but my cell phone was out of service at the camp. She took me right to you...she's a sweetie, isn't she?

I got there too late for the rally, but Camp Casey more than made up for it. The daughter who cried broke my heart too. My dad was a Major in the Army. He was my rock. Fortunately for me, his war tours occurred before I was born. My older siblings had to endure the hell that she is going through right now. I wouldn't wish her experience on my worst enemy. My brother is back home from his fourth deployment, safe and sound. It was hard enough worrying about my brother, but a father? A son? A husband? The very thought brings me to tears.

I was blown away by Bill talking about losing his son. I cried throughout his entire speech. He was expecting to see his son get married just three months prior to his death! I met Bill earlier in the day when someone from the Crawford Peace House drove me and him to the camp. We made small talk and he told me he was in charge of making sure people didn't fight with the counter protesters. We made small talk, nothing major. I had no idea I was looking at a man who lost his son in this war. When he got up and told his story, not only did I cry, but I wondered how many times I encountered someone dealing with so much pain without me ever knowing. :(
