Arianna Huffington: It Takes a Village to Smear Cindy Sheehan
http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20050812/cm_huffpost/005557

The right wing attacks on Cindy Sheehan -- desperate, pathetic, and grasping at straws -- expose much less about their target than about the attackers.

I mean, trying to slime a grieving Gold Star mom because she is inconveniently questioning the reasons her son was sent off to die in
Iraq? Why that would be like trashing a much-decorated war hero or outing an undercover
CIA agent…

Oh, right…

How much longer can the Bushies get away with mauling the very values they profess to stand for before their supporters start getting wise to the fact that the only value they really value is power?

3. I'm glad to see that others are taking note of this...
People outside of this board, I mean.

I honestly thought that SOME of the right would embrace Cindy, if for no other reason than she is the mother of a soldier. I'm kind of taken aback at the way they are attacking her.

For me, it really smacks of the unquestioning support that was given to Hitler. Maybe I'm stretching things a bit with that, but it's what I feel. Like it's wrong somehow for her to question what he's doing and to stand up for what she believes.

That's what troubles me most about this administration. The way the dissenting view is not only unwelcomed, but driven out and when they can, completely shut down.

9. Ah--uppity, I have personal experience w/that one...
Some dude in Chicago didn't like that I could articulate and ask him about his needs. He threw his plate at me. I guess I was supposed to speak to him in dialect, ebonics or with downtrodden eyes. That probably would have made him feel better.

:eyes:

What was I thinking? LOL!

4. This is starting to backfire on the creeps
I was in a bar in Baltimore Thursday night and was the only Dem there, although there were two anti-war black former soldiers who were, for some reason, independents, and the whole place agreed that going after a mom for wondering why we were in Iraq is beyond the pale. One guy said, so what if she was polite to Bush in a public event. Most people are polite to people they disagree with. And they clearly saw this as being orchestrated by Bush's minions...no one thinks this is just a coincidence.
