7. Please note that the phrase 'honor and dignity'
has been brought up three times so far - as in 'Bush promised to restore honor & dignity to the White House, so how could this happen?'

This one is not going away, kids. Not by a shot.

8. one thing I noticed
He kept saying that this will be "pursued to the fullest extent." Normally when people say "to the fullest extent" they follow it up with "of the law." Scottie didn't.

10. "Clinton used the same rationale
to reject a special prosecutor for Whitewater in 1994 and we saw how that turned out."

McClelland: "I totally reject that comparison."

Press room erupted in laughter.

The press allows him to control the tone and how long a subject can be talked about. They're are indeed the greatest of whores.

29. This is what struck me the most....
from this news conference...first, the WH press corp was in a frenzy over this issue....that's a first. :eyes: Secondly, McClellan was asked several times if the WH did their own in-house investigation into these charges. His response was something like "we don't have time to investigate every little media report that comes to our attention." Excuse me, but this is an issue that is a direct indication of our national security being put at risk. Isn't that reason enough for this White House to be VERY concerned and shouldn't Bush have been asking the the DoJ to investigate this matter when Novak wrote his now infamous article?

"shouldn't Bush have been asking the the DoJ to investigate this matter when Novak wrote his now infamous article?"

How could Bush* have known - he doesn't READ newspapers or follow the media, remember? He relies on his ADVISORS for his news!

Put another way - Bush shares ZERO culpability, eh? Who knew that Faux interview would end up covering his ass from the evil, evil aggressive dems, evil media, and evil DUers. By now it should be very obvious that God IS on *'s side!!

</sarcasm>

Some excerpts:

QUESTION: Has the President either asked Karl Rove to assure him that he had nothing to do with this; or did Karl Rove go to the President to assure him that he --

McCLELLAN: I don't think he needs that. I think I've -- and I've spoken clearly to this publicly that -- but it's -- yes, I've just said it's -- there's no truth to it.

QUESTION: But I mean --

McCLELLAN: So I think it doesn't --

QUESTION: But is the President getting his information from you? Or did the President and Karl Rove talk, and were there assurances given that Rove was not involved?

McCLELLAN: I've already provided those assurances to you publicly.

QUESTION: Yes, but I'm just wondering if there was a conversation between Karl Rove and the President, or if he just talked to you, and you're here at this --

McCLELLAN: He wasn't involved. The President knows he wasn't involved.

QUESTION: How does he know that?

QUESTION: How does he know that?

McCLELLAN: The President knows.

QUESTION: What, is he clairvoyant? How does he know?

QUESTION: You spoke specifically -- you spoke to Rove specifically about this matter, correct?

McCLELLAN: I'm sorry?

QUESTION: You spoke to Rove specifically about this matter? You asked him whether or not he was the leaker, or --

McCLELLAN: I don't know what the relevance of getting into every private conversation, John -- is, John. I've made it very clear that it's simply not true.

QUESTION: Based on what?

QUESTION: Based on what?

QUESTION: What are you basing -- what are you --

McCLELLAN: Someone asked me if I had spoken with him, and I said, yes.

QUESTION: And you spoke with him about this issue?

QUESTION: Did you ask him, directly?

McCLELLAN: I have spoken with him, yes.

QUESTION: But the President hasn't spoken with him directly about this issue? You have and the President hasn't?

McCLELLAN: Go ahead, Keith.

QUESTION: Well, that was the question.

McCLELLAN: I'm sorry?
