2. This is a reason to turn C-Span OFF, not on.
Of course Pipes will say that. The surprise would be if he DIDN'T say something like that.

6. Talking heads attacking Syria? I thought they were having Syrians

discussing issues? I switched away after Washington Journal because I needed a break from news. Are these "heads" attacking what the Syrians
said? And who are the "heads" -- aside from the loathsome Dr. Pipes?

7. Really?
I've always liked what I heard from Daniel Pipes on TV and have been impressed with his steady, measured tone. I didn't know he had this reputation. Can someone provide links of controversial things he's said?

10. You're kidding -- right?
Daniel Pipes is an anti-Arab racist of the highest order. He is also founder of "Campus Watch" -- a group dedicated to monitoring American professors for instances of "Anti-Americanism". See for yourself at http://www.campus-watch.org.

Here's two others to peruse...

11. here's one quote Pipes"ENFRANCHISEMENT OF U.S. MUSLIMS THREATENS JEWS"

PIPES SAYS ENFRANCHISEMENT OF U.S. MUSLIMS THREATENS JEWS

"I worry very much from the Jewish point of view that the presence, and increased stature, and affluence, and enfranchisement of American Muslims...will present true dangers to American Jews."

Daniel Pipes speaking before the convention of the American Jewish Congress, 10/21/2001

another

Daniel Pipes, Peacemaker?
Daniel Pipes says the only path to Middle East peace will come through a total Israeli military victory. So why has President Bush nominated him to the board of the government's leading peace think-tank?

Like many other Middle East scholars, Daniel Pipes sees a way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But unlike most of his peers, Pipes sees no room for negotiation, no hope for compromise and no use for diplomacy. "What war had achieved for Israel," Pipes explained at a recent Zionist conference in Washington DC, "diplomacy has undone."

12. Ha ha ha ha - it's so funny to see you saying this.... Every post I ever
saw from you contained huge undigested gobs of rightwing thinking... (unconscious, of course) -- and now you say you've been "impressed with (Daniel Pipes') steady, measured tone..."

It's just too funny.

16. To many on this board...
...including you, it seems, anyone who isn't a card-carrying member of the hysterical Che-worshipping, LIHOP-believing, America-is-a-corporate-fascist-empire-spewing Left is "right wing." Spare me.

I suppose it's true...some people on this board are so far to the left that responding to them brings out the conservative in me.

I was wrong about Pipes. I just said so. I had only seen him on TV two or three times and he always seemend reasonable.

9. Daniel Pipes is
a bit unstable mentally. Typical neo-con shit.

If only he was as good a historian as Richard Pipes, who is one of the most renowned Soviet experts in US Academia.

15. Not exactly, no.
Richard (Daniel's daddy) is renowned, all right, but this doesn't mean he's a "good historian." Richard built his reputation the same way that Richard Nixon did: by milking anticommunism for its career advancement potential. Both Pipeses are very much alike - rightwingers trying to cash in by being useful to American reactionaries.

Daniel Pipes doesn't want peace in the Middle East. He likes the US approach just the way it is and would like it to be even more anti-Muslim. Pipes is a vile reptile. Do an archive search re Daniel Pipes at DU and you'll get a ton of stuff.

He is not only on the anti-Muslim, attack every Muslim country band-wagon- he's one of the initiators of it. One of his cohorts in hate is Steve Emerson.

Progressives and their organizations have been fighting him for years.
