WHY NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE MOST IMPORTANT
breaking story at this moment?

Why are there something like 15 candidate bashing threads (not all the candidate threads included, btw) on the front page when the most important story for ALL AMERICANS is that two people, and probably more, in the White House seem to be guilty of treason by outing an undercover agent who was hunting for WMD?

Why bury this most important story of this week and the coming week with scwabbling among democrats? (I'm being charitable and not assuming that there are trolls who are trying to bury info)

Unite to get rid of the most dangerous administration this country has ever known.

Read the threads and the links about the Plame/Wilson situation. Become conversant in the facts. Talk to someone at work tomorrow...not wild talk, but the simple facts...the how in the hell can Bush have sat on this for months knowledge that someone in his administration is guilty of a felony, at best, and treason at worst.

WMD. Plame was involved in the hunt for WMD.

Isn't this the reason we invaded Iraq? Isn't this the reason we are in a global war to stop terrorism?

Why has Bush allowed someone to smear a CIA agent to cover for his lies????

Don't stay on this thread. Go read the threads on GD that have fallen past the first page and bump them up. Same with LBN.

Stop fighting among yourselves and focus on the real enemies of democracy in this country.

but I predict this will drop off the front page. It doesn't contain an attack against Clark or Dean.

unfortunately, I have to go out for a bit.

when I get back, I'll be kicking threads too. seems to be lots of energy on keeping this off the main page of GD, to me.

kick the good stuff, ignore the bad.

calling attention to one by Salin. Then kicked Salin's. Then kicked mine. They still sank from page one in less than a minute. Sorry

31. I'll be kicking with PHONE NUMBERS: TO CAPITOL HILL!!!
GUYS - Once more with feeling - HERE'S WHAT TO DO, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, TO ENSURE THAT THIS WON'T DIE::::::

Call the Capitol Hill Switchboard - TOLL FREE:

1 (800) 648 - 3516

1 (800) 839 - 5276

Call this in the morning and they'll switch you to whichever office you request.

or check out www.congress.org and go to the directory - it'll guide you to the local AND Washington office numbers of anybody on Capitol Hill.

Also - if you have a chance, call the editorial offices of your paper and ask for more details because this might be treason!

If the media and our reps sense that the people want this, they WILL do something. And if you think that ashcroft will slam the door, think about what happened with Michael Powell's plans in the FCC to fully and completely unleash the media foxes into all the henhouses. He thought he had this one slam-dunked. But Congress bowed to public pressure and did an end-run around him.

It CAN be done. We just have to avoid wanting to give up!

5. Quit being a defeatist....pleasure even if it passes is pleasure
I really hate to see this kind of oh, well, nothing we can do about it...we need to work by e-mailing people, friends, newspapers, congresscritters, and writing ltte. And I plan on following my advise, because I peruse the news and get those same feelings, well, as long as I do what I can, I won't have an excuse to complain. :hi::bounce::hi:

33. DAMN STRAIGHT! DO SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Except give up.
Make even ONE SINGLE CALL in the morning! Call your local paper! Do some emailing. Talk to people. Call your congressman/woman! Do it locally if you can't afford long distance. OR use those toll free Capitol Hill Switchboard numbers and get transfered to ANYBODY'S office you name!

AGAIN:

1 (800) 648 - 3516

1 (800) 839 - 5276

If the rightwingers can get a drum beat going, SO CAN WE!!!!!

Just, for Lord's sakes, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

I thought I started an interesting thread on what was going on during July 9-20th, regarding the leaks from the White House, but it seems not many agree. There was another sleazy leak that week from the White House. I believe it's all related.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=422244

Please read, and if you think it is worthwhile kick it for me. Thanks.

2. With all due respect
This story is months old. The *real* story is that the press is finally starting to notice it. *That's* exciting.

BTW, go to www.house.gov and www.senate.gov and find out who's on the intelligence committees and plan to write them letters to investigate this. Because we sure as h*ll can't trust Asskroft to do it.

6. with all due respect
Friday was the announcement that the CIA thought the situation warranted an investigation.

following by the Time article stating the DoJ was looking into it.

That's not months old. This will just start hitting the consciousness of Americans who have not been following this story. (btw, I have and if I had time now, I would post all the links, but I've done that numerous times on other threads...as I said, I have to leave.)

So, with all due respect, thank you for the links to contact Congress, etc.

I will be calling personally, because this is the most important investigation the Legislative Branch can do at this time.

Rather than downplaying this situation, maybe you can kick some threads which deal with it.

9. The frustrating thing for me
is that the press is only reporting it now because the government has decided to investigate. So the current news story is "Government to investigate CIA leak". If the government had done nothing, this would drop off the radar.

The press would have felt no obligation to keep this story in the spotlight, no need to ask questions, no duty to do any investigating on its own.

(My lame attempt to keep the thread bumped....)

Don't let Daddy find out!

We need more human intelligence. That means we need more protection for the methods we use to gather intelligence and more protection for our sources, particularly our human sources, people that are risking their lives for their country. Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors.
