Why is CNN doing wall-to-wall coverage on the crash in Toronto?
I know this is cynical, but the crash was in Canada, and the flight was from France - not a US story.

1. Should CNN not cover anything that happens outside the US?

17. I'm actually pleasantly surprised they are covering it
They tend not to cover 'foreign' stories that much. They do seem to be a bit addicted to the drama though.

2. And basically ZERO coverage on the rains that killed 800+ people in India.
It's ridiculous the way they pick and choose what they'll cover.

6. That's true; they shouldn't omit this tragedy.
They have barely touched on it, as if no one here would care.

3. I know a really good reason:
BBC is reporting no deaths, only minor injuries. Canada's national air service is getting high marks for their response, and AirFrance's crew is getting rave reports for being able to offload 300 people so fast.

24. That's an impression I'm getting.
It has to do with preparedness. And this group apparently spends alot of time training for the worst of events. I'm not convinced our agencies work this well. Can you imagine how bad it would be if it was privatized? God, I don't think I'd fly again.

....that besides the report of 7 dead American Marines adding to the total of murder counts George W. Bush is responsible for, maybe it is a slow news day..

But it could be 6:30 and that would make more sense. I don't know what time it is right now...where's my cell phone?

It's DRAMA, which beats doing real news, any day.

Have the exit polls shown Schmidt going down?

I am sure if Hackett wins, they will be breatless too -- for about 15 minutes :)
