conservative columnist foams at mouth over Dean's abortion stand
This is from the Manchester Union Leader and conservative columnist Jack Kenny titled, "Howard Dean's arrogance resurfaces as he calls abortion rights 'pro-life'".

Howard Dean not content with the pro-choice label, is now urging defenders of abortion "rights" to seize the "pro-life" banner as well.
"I actually propose that we call ourselves pro-life, Dean told NARAL Pro-Choice America Forum in Manchester, "because we care about life. We believe it is none of the government's business."

Kenny takes that statement to assert that Dean thinks it is governments business to provide health insurance and to support federal funding of abortion for medicaid patients, "and he calls himself pro-life"

4. If Dean was against the death penalty and war, he would have a point
Since he's a supporter of the death penalty and every war (except Iraq II) I don't see how he could call himself pro-life, but whatever.

5. I like the view of the Catholics in my family
I think thats the same view Kucinich held or may still hold.It is one I respect and it is the view of my political mentors who now share different candiates than I but nonetheless have taught me a lot. :hi: Thanks grandma and grandpa, :yourock:
On to their view
That is opposed to the death penalty, opposed to abortion but not in the mood of calling the girls whores just to try to keep abortion to a miminal, and opposition to wars.

2. I completely agree with Dean on this one
The taking of the term pro-life has always pissed me off becuase these people are anything but, i see this along the same times as taking the term liberal back. I'm sick and tired of my political beliefs being labaeled a dirty word.

3. I agree
as a doctor I think on the very sensitive and personal issue of abortion that Dean has been very outspoken and very correct.

7. I think we can count on foaming on this issue
directed at all the candidates, and at whichever one gets the eventual nomination. All 10 (I think; I haven't heard from Clark) support choice. Maybe Dr. Dean comes in first and foremost as a doctor? He's in a position to know better than most the consequences of illegal back-alley abortions when safe, legal options are taken away.

It could easily be the key issue for GWB in 04; he's not going to garner support based on his record in the WH, except from those who support privatization, corporatization, and the rightwing brand of christianization of the nation.

8. the Manchester Union Leader
is just one long conservative rant. It's embarassing that it's our state's biggest paper. Our 2 biggest news organs (The Union Leader, and Channel 9 news) have a huge conservative bias.

9. Super sharp
He's taking a lesson from the Repuke play book: It's how well it sounds that counts, not what it means. Examples: Patriot Act, Clean Environment, etc.
