A question for Kucinich supporters
Have you reconciled yourselves to his vote on the flag burning amendment? I e-mailed his campaign after the vote and yesterday got a form letter reply. I realize there is no such thing as the "perfect" candidate, and I still support him. But that vote still sticks in my craw, so to speak.

1. I got the same form letter
It still gets up my nostril, too. About the only thing that can be said for it is that the pukes won't be able to claim he promotes flag desecration.

Because I know the issue is nothing more than a right wing trap to get vulnerable Democrats to look 'unpatriotic' before an election. You can tell because the only time it ever comes up is right before elections. It will never get ratified as an amendment and is used as a divisive scare vote. Sort of like abortion where Roe v. Wade will never be overturned but we have pro-choice groups screaming it will and pro-life groups screaming to overturn it. Even Mary Matlin on Meet the Press said that Republicans had no interest in overturning Roe (see Meet the Press 6/29/03, debate with her and Carville)

5. There has never been a politician
who I agreed with 100% of the time. It won't happen.
But Dennis seems to see the world a lot of the same ways I do, and that is rare in a politician. Since Regan, a lot of politicians left of center have to go around proving they are not weak.

We need to stop apologizing and keep beating the muktuk out of those neocon criminals.

6. I do not think that his vote
was something an American patriot need to be concerned about.

I am not an American.

However, I feel the same way I think Dennis Kucinch may be feeling.

All countries should take pride in their national symbols and those of other nations and not do anything that causes anyone to disrespect these.

Hence, if all was fair and just in America - no one would have the need to burn the national flag, just as if Americans were just and fair around the world, no other national would burn the American national flag.

The same applies to every nation in the world.

It is arrogance, bullying, injustices that cause one to show disrespect to national and international symbols.

It is my opinion that, having read Dennis Kucinch's web pages and his speeches, and after having heard him on the Mike Malloy Talk Show, etc., that he is the sort of leader the world requires to bring fairness and justice to all corners of the globe.

If America can produce a leader like him, the American flag would be revered around the world and not be a symbol representing arrogance, aggression, and hatred of other people and their opinions.

No one would want to burn your flag!!

10. Doesn't the flag code still say
that burning is the only method suitable for disposing of your old flag?

12. That's what I've always heard
As a patrol in Elementary school, my job was to put up and take down the flag everyday. I was always told to never let it touch the ground because then they would have to send it to be burnt and they'd need to get a new one.

I was irriated but I found out the reason why its respectable.
I still disagree mind you. Theres a lot that turns me off about other dems yet I still like them although this is an important issue I know Dennis was thinking of people not being a crazy nationalist when he voted for that and I do disagree with it.

13. I agree
I see where he's coming from and it's a respectable position, but I still don't agree with it. Having said that, it's done nothing to dampen my support for him. I'm still behind him 100%.

15. exactly
He's not a crazy nationalist but more of a guy who in his own way remembers the hope the flag gave his ancestors. Now I remember my ancestors like Dennis I hope does too by being cool with new immigrants and being pro labor.
