"Rice Asked if Bolton Testified in Leak Case"
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Democratic opponent of John Bolton asked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday whether the nominee for U.N. ambassador had testified to a grand jury about the leak of CIA operative's identity.

Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee say they want to determine whether Bolton was truthful when he wrote on a questionnaire for his confirmation hearing that he has not been interviewed in any recent investigations.

In a letter to Rice, Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., referenced an MSNBC report from July 21 that Bolton was among State Department undersecretaries who "gave testimony" about a classified memo that has become an important piece of evidence in the leak investigation.

Biden asked Rice to tell the committee "whether Mr. Bolton did, in fact, appear before the grand jury, or whether he has been interviewed or otherwise asked to provide information by the special prosecutor or his staff in connection with this matter."

3. This connection
is so interesting. For awhile now, I've been wondering why the administration would risk losing Boltons nomination over a few documents. What is in those documents that is so important to protect, that they would risk Bolton's nomination in such a grand and public way?

The documents must contain fire.

6. Or what Bolton has on the WH?
Junior is risking a lot just to give Bolton this job and I'm not sure why. Gotta be something big.

4. and THIS was Rice's "answer"
"She said it is unclear whether Bolton lied on his questionnaire because senators do not know if he testified before or after he signed the document - or at all."

Holy Crap what a load of horseshit!!

5. sounds to me like Biden and others already know the answer to this
They just have to do the old Potomac two-step to bring it to light.

7. Bolton has been critically
compromised by his entanglement with the Plame outing.
Bush needs to withdraw his nomination. He wasn't a good choice before and he is now seriously damaged goods.

10. The only way they keep him is if they need to reward him a la the way
they reward everyone who doesn't deserve it.

11. Very true. But keeping Bolton
just prolongs the Plame/Rove/Gonzalez/Gannon/Libby/Novak and who knows who else imbroglio.
Which is good. The American public needs to know what a feast of snakes is going on here.

8. I'm guessing Bolton is in this up to his eyebrows...
Otherwise, why didn't B*sh install him via "Recess Appointment"
when he had the chance?
I certainly ASSUMED he was going to.

But suddenly they fall silent about him.

What made the B*shCabal back off of their Bolton Bandwagon?
