Say what you will! Clark is Just the "Big Build Up" to the "Big Let Down"
How can he possibly stand up under the criticism for the "LONG HAUL" that seasoned Politicians have already spent their careers doing? He has so much "bad baggage" and "negative attacks" from his fellow Military peers....one wonders how he's going to have time to fight all this before the Primaries.

Most of our other Dems who've been through Debeates, Vetting, and the "whore media" have passed their "gauntlet" .......but Clark is SO LATE.....how will he survive.....when there is so much stuff yet for him to confront?

How?

1. We shall see ...
I think he'll do well. What are you rooting for? Do you want to see him evolve into the Real Deal that comes along only rarely or do you want to see him fail?

It will be a tough test
I have my doubts about Clark, if he will be able to stand up to the scrutiny. Already, the media and the other candidates are honing in on what look to be some weaknesses.

5. He was a Rhodes Scholar and a 4 star general...
I think he can handle it--actually I think of it as an advantage, it doesn't appear to have helped Lieberman or the other career politicians to have been inside the beltway for a long time. You lose touch.

9. Welcome to DU, childslibrarian
I agree with you. Do people really think that being the NATO Supreme Commander is some sort of cakewalk? Besides, most Democrats are sleeping right now and not paying attention. Clark has time to get the dance moves down.

As for military coming out to support him, I'm sure he will have his supporters as well as detractors. That's the way it's played.

The skills on one job can be transferred to another job. I should know, I'm in a second career and everything I learned before is an plus.

6. In his thus short political career
he has not shown preparedness, nor organization. Two things very vital when one arrives at the party late.

I do not believe he understands the incredible need to reach out and listen to the people. (W/the exception of the clarkites.)

Also, he does not appeal to a larger extent to Dean supporters, IMHO.

8. Nah
Clark is the real deal. He has what it takes to weather it. He used to sleep four hours a day every day during the war.

What is Clark's major Achilles' heel right now is the clock. The clock's ticking. If he had entered earlier, he would have a dead lock on the nod by now. I think it'll turn out to be like the same dynamic that happened with Gore in the final days of the 2000 campaign. He'll be behind, but gaining every day, trending up. The question is not whether he will trend up past the frontrunner, but will he trend up fast enough by the cut off point. He needs to do major campaigning.

This looks to be an interesting primary.

18. Yes, he did.
And he credited the administration. Someone kept asking him about when he would decide and he said something like "well as the administration says, you don't roll out a new product until the fall."

25. You are right, blind allegiance doesn't serve anyone.
I didn't mean to hijack the thread with jokes. I can't deny I'm rooting for Clark, just as I'm rooting for all of the other candidates. I want them ALL to make a good impression on potential voters. And Clark's background is very different from the others. It's just the "I heard..." stuff that tweaks me. (Also, Crystal Pepsi.)
