"Shots to the Heart of Iraq. Innocents more frequently the target of US"
BAGHDAD - Three men in an unmarked sedan pulled up near the headquarters of the national police major crimes unit. The two passengers, wearing traditional Arab dishdasha gowns, stepped from the car.

At the same moment, a U.S. military convoy emerged from an underpass. Apparently believing the men were staging an ambush, the Americans fired, killing one passenger and wounding the other. The sedan's driver was hit in the head by two bullet fragments.

The soldiers drove on without stopping.

This kind of shooting is far from rare in Baghdad, but the driver of the car was no ordinary casualty. He was Iraqi police Brig. Gen. Majeed Farraji, chief of the major crimes unit. His passengers were unarmed hitchhikers whom he was dropping off on his way to work.

3. I Can Not Say How Many More Incidents Like This It Will Take

before I turn against the troops themselves.

I am hearing way too damn many ugly stories. I am beginning to wonder if our troops are running amok.

Clearly command either encourages this shit or our soldiers are out of control (or both).

I used to think it was just the former. I am beginning to think that they are ALL out of control.

I'm sure I will get flamed out for blaming the troops or whatever. So have at it.

But, someone is pulling the damn trigger. When are those soldiers going to be held accountable?

NEVER.

4. I think we have 3 situations here
1) Soldiers under bad orders

2) Nutty freeper soldiers having a killfest

3) Freaked out soldiers

I tend to assume that there more of group #3 involved in these horrible civilian slayings.. but I could be mistaken.
