What's with this "attorney-client" privilege bullshit with Roberts?
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 09:37 AM by kentuck
Bush is no attorney and Roberts is no client. If he's referring to the time he was representing the "government" in the Solicitor General's office, he was representing the people, he wasn't representing George W Bush. There is no "attorney-client" privilege in this matter, in my opinion..

It doesn't matter
Bush has entered that phase where he thinks he can do anything he wants.

2. Its not Roberts that they're shielding
Its the administrations he served and the cases he brought forth.

4. Doesn't matter, by long standing precedent, the client of any White House
counsel is THE PEOPLE, not the president.

3. It's another cleverly twisted meme
People are familiar with the idea from TV and when Rove says it enough he extends it to the public's perception of the role of the Solicitor General.

5. Some of Clinton's attorney were forced to testify
the republicans used the opposite argument then - said those attorneys were paid with tax dollars. This is amazing.

7. Even if the privilege did apply,
the client (Bush or the administration or the US government, makes not difference), it would not prevent the client from providing the information. It's the client's privilege, therefore the client can waive it. It would prevent Roberts from providing the documents, but it would not prevent Bush or who- or whatever the client is from providing the documents.

McCain needs to either go to law school or consult with a lawyer before opining on legal issues.

And since he apparently did neither before spouting off, HE REALLY SHOULD APOLOGIZE. Republicans have been demanding apologies from Democrats a lot recently. Let's demand that McCain apologize.

8. Roberts is the stealth candidate
An extreme right winger, that doesn't have much of a paper trail, other than what the White House wants to cover up.
