From Hunter at dKos--Sodomizing children. For Freedom.
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 09:57 PM by ohio_liberal
Hunter at dKos posted an article on the front page regarding the Abu Ghraib photos that were supposed to be released today. This part just raised hairs on my arms:

To be honest, I don't even care if this effort looks partisan anymore. If being anti-child-sodomy is now considered the partisan position, then I'm going to be the biggest f---ing partisan on the planet, and to Hell with anyone who isn't.

I'm tired of all of it. Just tired. I'm tired because the rest of the world has known this for a year, and we refuse to discuss it in this country. And in truth, we can't discuss it in this country without the (heavily censored) pictures, because without the pictures, the horrible, horrible actual pictures, the loathsome, brick-stupid f---ing news media doesn't see a story. And without the pictures, every bloated, pill-popping, corpse-like Rush Limbaugh clone in America will continue to claim it's all lies, all exaggerated, all phony.

Because, God f---ing knows, we would never even abuse even an inanimate Koran, and God help you if you report such a thing without the very pictures to see it happening before your eyes.

So here are the pictures. See it happening. So defend it, Rush. Go ahead and f---ing try. Maybe at some point, in this country -- maybe not now, maybe only after the most partisan, dishonest sacks of crap among us find themselves rotting deep under the ground, their much-sought Rapture having wholly abandoned them -- we will again be able to find some small shared moral base, some small point of humanity on which we can all agree, before God and country, this thing was wrong.

I won't hold my breath.

Hunter is right. We already know what's in these photos but we can't get anyone to pay attention to the abuse of women and children until the photos and video are released. The existence of these images is no secret, not anywhere in the world. Goddamn it. Is the ACLU the only organization trying to crack open this dirty coverup?

1. Yep, just did my own bitch screaming
about this very issue. At this point, someone needs to leak all of this evidence of abuse because WE HAVE PAID for it AND WE HAVE NOT STOPPED IT... we are all guilty.

6. How long can they hold out?
The reason they're not complying is because there is no fucking excuse in the world for these images! Every single MSM organization that is not standing up with the ACLU in court, demanding access, is complicit in my book.

10. They are passing
3 laws involving nationa security on this and something like "people might get hurt"... fuck, I am so tired, I cannot think straight. I was just talking about this on Pacifica radio, and I cannot remember what I just said? Oh boy, time for serious rest. Will scream about this on the Brad Show tomorrow too, by then I should recover.

11. So the plan then
is to hold out long enough that national security laws are passed and they can make it all go quietly away? Argh!!!!! What can anyone do?

15. They want to
Send a memo, get this, that will explain their position. The memo will be redacted in large parts and released to the public, the evidence (photos, video) will never be released. The documents are going to be filed under seal and will come along with three legal statutes. So that is the summary and in my state of mind, I am frankly surprised I remembered the specifics.

17. Sad to say, I'm not surprised. I just hope the judge who issued the order
goes ape-shit. Who decides on whether this is legal or legit, and when?

Wouldn't you think that, if the gist of the argument issued by the government in the first place was, "we don't want to release this stuff", and the judge said "Tough. You have 'til June 30th", and then they played at redacting the photos for nearly a month, only to- on the last day- come out with "We're not releasing this stuff because, get this, we don't want to release this stuff"...

isn't there someone, somewhere who can call bullshit on that? What is the point of HAVING a FOIA or court orders if the Government only has to comply with them when it feels like it?

And where does this go from here?

18. ACLU is taking the fight back to court
In any case, the DOD failed to meet the deadline. I mean they could have pulled this crap out ages ago, but they failed to make this argument until the deadline had passed. So there might be a case there, although I don't know.

The ACLU is now under watch by the FBI, as all people who file law suits should be it seems. Wow!!

At this point and I hate to say it, but the only people who will save us are within the CIA. The FBI is too busy chasing Greenpeace and the SS is too busy chasing citizens. The Pentagon is too busy raping, murdering, robbing, and god knows what else.

As much as I have always worried about the CIA, at this point, they are all we have. There is no one else.

Everyone else is committing treason by supporting treason. The CIA are the only one's saying STOP.

19. This is why an independent non-partisan judiciary is so important
and why the Republican Party wants to install political ideologues on the courts instead of simply competent and fair-minded jurists.

23. "we are all guilty" ... yep. like it or not, that's a fact, jack
Unless an American citizen is jailed or emigrated, (s)he hasn't done enough to try to stop what's being done in our name.

I'm guilty ... if only because I sleep comfortably in my own bed while many thousands are killed, imprisoned, or tortured by an adminstration I KNOW is criminal on a global scale. As one of the guilty, I'll still welcome justice and the penalties that may come with it. We're an outlaw nation. This world cannnot survive if nations are not held responsible for their behavior -- that became a fact on August 15th, 1945.

31. Same here.
It's my latest blog entry.

Someone posted a comment on my blog a few hours ago asking me if I ever saw the world in less simple terms than "Republicans-bad. Democrats- Good."

After reading stories like this and seeing how casually cruel and cold-blooded this administration is (what was it that Hannah Arendt wrote during the Barbie trial about the "banality of evil"?)... well, all I can do is point to Hunter's piece on Kos and let that justify my rationale for going after the GOP with hammers and fucking tongs 24/7.

8. They are Nazis and I challenge anyone to prove
Me wrong on the historical argument of the early Nazi regime up to the start of the arrests. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong with fact, not hysteria. And before I get smack for Anti-Semitism... just for the record, I am a Jew. So anyone, feel free, as I am well versed in the history of American banking involvement in WWII. Nice to see the same family profiting. And we say "never forget" or "never again." How trite.

5. If you aren't upset you don't understand the problem.
They hate us because of our freedom - no they hate us because we refuse to stop this kind of thing. We refuse to stop it. We enable it. It is being done in our name. It is being done with our money. It is being done by our soldiers and mercenaries.

Nice going Senator John Warner - General Taguba went out on a limb for nothing. You are beneath contempt.

7. I agree.
Hunter is right. If this be so it must be brought out as quickly as possible. AND IF THE REST OF THE WORLD KNOWS IT ALREADY, THEN THAT PART OF THE STORY NEEDS EMPHASIS TOO.

The neoconservatives have taken "See no evil. Hear no Evil. Speak no evil." to an extreme this nation cannot possibly tolerate.

This is very similar to the crimes that we are presently complaining about in the Sudan.

I am puking sick that this was done in my name--that is in the name of the United States of which I am a citizen.

Supposedly he's seen the videos. In fact, I think he mentioned that the worst part were the screams of a child being raped. He and others in positions of prominence need to call out this administration publicly and demand that they prove they are not fascists and traitors to the Constitution.

16. It is time, my friends,
for our own fucking rapture. It is time that concerned citizens stand up and raise their fists to the sky and fight. Fuck the Patriot Act, fuck the military, fuck the government. I remember something from the Declaration of Independance: if at anytime a government becomes a tyranny, then the people have a right to stand up. We may not be the majority, we may not be heard by CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox or any other piece of shit media outlet. But, it is time.

I have little in this world, little more than a family, a wife and two daughters. I have an undergraduate degree and very few real estate possessions. And, the only fucking way that any of my children can have a life, a true life is that it is time to stand up and fight. Not in armed revolution but through protest, through DU, through every radio show, through every court case, through our representatives, and any other way possible.

But, in the words of Thomas Jefferson, I state here: There comes a time when in the course of human events one must sever the bonds of country to forge a new and better government.

This is not just this evening.
This is the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. Not in my motherfucking name, though it may be little more than a footnote in the lives of the people I'm with in my life; however, it is my fucking name. And, I will not stand for this government representing me anymore. As of this moment, I declare with no malice in contempt that George W Bush is not my president, nor shall he ever be.

It is time that we take this to the streets and do what we do best, protest, bitch and raise a general stink in a Gandhian sense. This is not just tonight, this is just not tomorrow.

And, to the freeper reading this, I wouldn't laugh, because it will be you that hurts the most from this because you weren't fucking expecting it.

And, to the dutiful agent of the government that might justh appen upon this as he surveys the country sanctified by the Anti-Patriot act, please do note that I am not promoting any sense of violence or revolution in this country: in fact, I want the opposite, I want the violence to end.

then I am proud to be called UN-american! The site needs set up with a petition and widely circulated.

This is sickening, horrifying, embarrassing, and I will no longer avoid arguments with Republicans......this needs to be thrown in their faces EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY until they are deprogrammed and join us in our quest to take back America! Any of them that defend these actions need to be locked up and put to a slow death!

I don't understand why anyone would oppose the ACLU, who has one client, just one and that client is the Bill of Rights. Working with them over the years, I still do not know who is part of what political party in my small group of friends there.

The freeptards will tell you that they are commies or something equally uneducated, but in reality the freeptards are commies as they have sold our country to China and taken up government controlled life = Big Brother.

I mean really... what is more dangerous: A tree hugger, who has the right to voice their concern as granted to them by the Constitution or the new China-Russia-Iran love fest?

There are some truly sick pieces of garbage in this country.
