Sign up for the "election reform" meetup!
Time to get your butt out from in front of your computer and get this message on the road!

Go to http://electionreform.meetup.com/

There was a thread on this yesterday. Here's a list of people who signed up since just last night and what some of them said. You'll recognize many of the names.

rosemary (Eugene, OR)
Congress has mandated 100% electronic voting by Nov 2004. Many believe this is a serious threat to democracy. Sign up to discuss and learn more. If 5 people or more sign up for a MeetUp, I will be there. Tell others.

cgodby (Columbus, OH)

farmbo (Columbus, OH)

chuckmason (Santa Fe, NM)

linazelle (Chicago, IL)

ears (North Suburban Chicago, IL)
I have been following Bev Harris' work both on DU and her own web sites. There is maybe no more important issue at hand and I wish I had more time to work on it. I will offer what support I can, however.

LoZoccolo (Chicago, IL)

StarkCountyPeace (Canton, OH)

shirlden (Columbus, OH)
Ohio native and long time political junkie.

winwithoutwar (Sacramento, CA)
Judy (Chicago, IL)

david (Greensboro, NC)
I am David Allen of Plan Nine Publishing, the publisher of Bev Harris' upcoming book on Black Box Voting. I run the site blackboxvoting.com

Junkdrawer (Pittsburgh, PA)
I'm a regular at DemocraticUnderground.com

astrobuff03 (Portland, OR)
I am ready to go head to head with the govt on the subversion of democracy, which is defined by free and fair elections.

Alan (Minneapolis, MN)
Bev Harris is the defacto leader of this movement. You can get info at www.blackboxvoting.org (& .com). Additional info can be obtained from www.verifiedvoting.org. I will host - let's plan on all meeting this month, Oct. 8.

6. A message from my lawyer friend in Poland
I asked him about owership of the data on the voting machines. here is what he said:

ok, no problem. let's see, what we need to ask. is your vote copyrighted as a separate packet of data? if it is, who is the copyrights owner? if them, we have clear situation, but if your vote belongs to you, it will mean that they have only copyrights to the general data processed by their system, in this case: software and the output.

So what has to be determined is who owns the vote we cast. Does it become the property of the voting machine company. What rights do we have?

7. Five more "election reform" meetup members today
Edited on Sat Sep-27-03 04:55 PM by gristy
You all know fellow DUer and tireless anti-BBV advocate Gordon25. Hi Gordon! :hi:

Everyone else, now listen up! If you have been active on the BBV (Black Box Voting) issue, I encourage you to sign up and put some shoe leather to the pavement. It's time to get out and get active. Join the list of other DU BBV activists who have joined in the past day: Gordon25, shirlden, David Allen, Junkdrawer, julie, myself, and probably others who didn't use the same name as they use on DU.

If you haven't been active on the BBV issue, then this is a GREAT chance for you to get out, meet others knowledgeable on the issue who can help get you up to speed, and start contributing!

FYI, see this DU link for info on what went on in Georgia yesterday.

And here's the five who have joined today:
