I'm so effin' sick of the false patriotism!!!
I go out this morning for what I think is a 15 minute errand for coffee, and I'm stuck behind the slowest car every for about 2 miles with literally 7 flags on it, ranging from its antenna to the bumpers. Then, I get into line at the coffee shop and have to wait for an extraordinarily slow (and somewhat rude) guy wearing a flag doo rag on his head.

Finally, I'm almost sideswiped on my way home by an SUV with one of those yellow ribbons where the center piece is a cross (which is then placed next to the ribbon).

It's been about 4 years since I was in Europe, but I just don't recall people in Britain wearing Union Jacks, or the French driving around with flags, etc.

I hate this shit!

1. New patriot checklist:
1) Do you have a yellow ribbon?

If yes, then you are a patriot.

3. Small correction:
Are you a neocon with a yellow ribbon (and belly)?
Then you are a patriot!
Of course, it helps to have an I.Q. about six points lower than a garter snake's.

2. In 2 out of 3 of those cases, you have no idea what the politics of the...
individuals were. In the third case, you might have a clue with the cross. Seems like you are really ticked off about their slowness on a Monday morning. JMO.

4. I have to say that I find the over use of red, white and blue annoying
it almost takes away from the significance of the flag with the over use of it in ornamentation...

5. My parents are die hard Republicans. This past June, when we
were getting ready to go to the beach, my dad mentioned that he needed a new beach chair. So, I found one for him. The canvas part of the chair is an American flag. He loves that chair! Hey, Dad - is it really patriotic to sit your ass on the flag?

And, ftr - he has the requisite "Support Our Troops" yellow ribbon on his van.
