Anyone who calls himself "Scooter"...
deserves to be someone's prison bitch.

That is all I have to say...

2. don't get anywhere near that
No one deserves to be a "prison bitch." Institutionalized/industrialized rape is not what this country was founded upon.

What goes on regarding mass imprisonment and the victimization of prisoners in this country is a tragedy so severe it's unimaginable. Do not make light of it.

5. You are so right
I wonder just how many realize that what you're saying is on the mark. Has there been a thread relating to this topic that you know of? I think people would be alarmed at what goes on in the name of justice.

9. thread? it could be a forum or even a whole website
This is an oft-ignored aspect of civil liberties. To get an idea of what goes on, the whole "Guantanamo" affair was "investigated" by the BBC. What they discovered was "America's Brutal Prisons," and basically described Guantanamo as a cake walk compared to what the US does to its own people.

This is not the only ignored fact relating to civil liberties and criminal justice. Things like plea bargains, mandatory sentences, abuses of police power, psychiatric imprisonment (it may take a while for how insidious that is to soak in), and more all feed into this.

But the coldest and hardest fact is impossible to circumvent: 2 million is far too many prisoners by far. This is not a free country.

10. Thanks for your comments....and......
Again, you're right. A thread was not a good choice of words. I touched on this subject somewhere here not too long ago when I mentioned that my first introduction to prisons and "justice" American-style (although not exclusively to the U.S.) was a book entitled The Scotsborough Boys Case. From that time forward I never thought a joke about prisons was even the slightest bit amusing. The book horrified me although I admit it was literally decades ago when I sneaked it away from my dad after he had read it and put in back in the bookcase. Those were the days when parents censored books. I could write a book on that dear man who was way ahead of his time in seeing where we were heading......

that nickname since he was a kid and all his friends call him "Scooter" and he's a great guy!

11. After I posted, I thought of a guy I work with called "Scooter"
and he is a great guy! I guess I was feeling a little disgusted with the whole Valerie Plame leak and how these thugs operate.

You all are right -- no one deserves to be someone's "bitch" in prison...it is a sad thing to think that this goes on in our prisons.
