When Does "40% Approval" Become "60% Genuine Outrage"??
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the sense that of the people who "disapprove" of Bush, many are simply "dissatisfied" or "generally uneasy" about things in Iraq, at home, etc. I just don't feel as though people feel the same visceral opposition to this Administration as people on this board. As much as I want to believe that 60% of people want him gone immediately, the average person simply doesn't pay as close attention as most of us here.

That said, I truly believe that Buschco's failings go way beyond simple partisanship, and that even the most "objective" of people would be calling for his head if they really knew the half of what was going on. So what I want to know is this -- is there ANYTHING that can happen that will lead a majority of people in this country to want to rise up and get these creeps out of office, or am I completely off base?

1. A re-emergence of ethical media would be the start...
...of the downfall of the BFEE. Until that happens, there will be more of the same (bullshit).

2. MSM has to bring him down....
....think about the people you know who couldn't even place their own state on a map....think about where they probably get their once a day bit of news....MSM...NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN....forget FOX....

Most people really aren't that politically tuned in....I have lots of very intelligent friends and family....a very small fraction thereof I could discuss Rovegate with....

5. it's so frustrating! the msm could bring him down ANYTIME THEY WANT!
all they have to do is report the truth for a few weeks and his legislative abilities and his supreme court stacking dreams are finished. he wouldn't be able to pass gas or get an appointment approved by the dentist.

3. That's the "sense" that you are...
supposed to get. Other than that, you're completely ON base. IMO, the approval is really closer to 30% than 40. The stew that BushCo and the media have made is starting to boil; soon it will no longer fit in the pot.

4. I think the beginning of that could happen when the outcome of
the current GJ is published. From everything I've read, Fitz is sure not only concentrating only on the Plame outing.

There are a lot of people who don't like this admin and it's getting to be more every day, but there aren't
THAT many people who pay the attention to it like DUers do. Most of my friends and realtives contact ME and say "Hey, I hears xxxxx. What do yu know about that?" They express anger at Shrub, but they have a lot better and enjoyable things to do with their lives than let politics take over.

Think back to Nixon. That mess started out with his supporters saying almost the same things you're hearing from Shrub's supporters today, but the drip, drip, drip, turned into a stream, and then the stream turned into a GUSHER! Have patience.

>Insana then asks, "Where does it end?" And he said, "Utter global collapse." Not simply economic collapse; complete
disintegration of all infrastructure and of all public structures of governments. Utter, utter collapse. That the end is
collapse of simply epic proportion.

In 10 years time, he said, whoever is still alive on the planet will be effectively starting again.

And the comments were so negative. I´ve never heard anything like it. From a guy who was 53 years on the Street. This is
Julian Robertson, the renowned Republican. And yet he blamed everything on ´the Bushonian Cabal,´ that the Cabal has now
consolidated power and money on the planet to the maximum extent possible. That the planet´s net liquidity--that is, net
free cash flow--is now a negative number. That the planet is not simply sinking into a sea of red ink; it is already sunk.
The people just don´t realize it yet.

12. Oh -- he spent it all right.
. . .and now he's in debt up to his eyeballs.

I just wish the new bankruptcy laws applied to political capital.

7.  his base excuses him , MY experience

just from knowing a few bushies, i do not see moral outrage. i see acceptance and gratefulness for the few crumbs they are tossed.

e.g. when i expressed my outrage at the paltry reimbursement CA is to get from Enron, ie; pennies on the dollar, my husband said he was glad we got even that. No outrage.

When I mentioned Arnie's magazine deal, I got a bland expression from my husband, a bland expression that EXCUSED and DISMISSED any outrage I felt.

A woman at work who hates Bush because she suspects his immigration policies would nonetheless back his ilk again. No outrage.

Others change the subject to the missing white women and start speculating on that, instead of what's going on. when i say there's lots more important stuff, they say, 'yeah, but this is more fun to talk about'.

i see a distinct facial expression on these people when these topics come up.

i don't know if anyone else has noticed it. i can't quite describe it, but except that i know that inside their minds, they are putting the blinders and earplugs in. it's a sheeplike expression.

The people who I talk to DO NOT WANT TO HEAR. Just my experience.

8. 40% for = 60% against . . .
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 05:09 PM by unrepuke
The other day on Judge Millian's People's Court there was a guy obviously lying through his teeth and she asked the audience how many thought he was lying. About half raised their hands, so the guy said "See there, Judge? Half the room's with ME."

Haha

Then she asked how may think he's telling the truth -- no hands raised.

9. Soundbyte Amerika.
Most people do not like politics and are apathetic even on the local level, hmmm...perhaps esp. on the local level. They feel that they can do nothing to change anything so why bother to vote much less get politically active. Most focus on sports and entertainment and sensationalistic stories. More people can name sports, film and music people than people in Govt. Politicians like ignorant people. They like stupid people. They love ingorant, stupid people.
