Nice thing about sociopaths like Rove...
when it comes to falling on their swords, they always delegate the task.

Rove's loyalty is to Rove. I think Bush is too nacissistic to understand that. He probly thinks he's playing God ro Rove's Jesus, and that Rove will allow himself to be crucified for the greater glory of Bush.

But guess what. I don't think it's gonna work that way. Bush has been Rove's ticket on the power bus for a long time now, and Rove will fight to the last dirty trick to stay on the bus, but if it becomes apparent that the ride is coming to the end of the line, Rove will shift his game as readily as he would grab a transfer token, and will grasp whatever deal comes along that will minimize his own suffering.

1. Let Rove cut a deal.

That's fine by me. If he rats out the admin, I'm happy to leave the matter of Rove to all those extremely angry CIA spooks.

2. I think he's already shifted
The sudden waivers and admissions indicate he is in full shift mode. Only I think it's Cheney he's going to point his chubby finger at as the original leak conspirator. And that's fine and dandy by me. Like skids said, let the CIA take care of Rove.

3. I can see Rove suddenly appointed Ambassador
to Latvia or Lithuania (or maybe Lower Slobbovia).
End of Rovegate! Covenant: The Media must go back to Lacy Petersen, uh, I mean the Aruba girl.

5. sociopath Karl Rove
"A Small Leak will serve to sink a great ship." Benjamin Franklin

I agree wholeheartedly. The thing that is going to bring down the Bush house of cards is the inherent trait of Republicans to ultimately look after themselves above anything else. None of them is going to voluntarily fall on their sword if they can help it, even if it is going to be for a perfunctory stretch of time in the pen.

Back when Newt Gingrich fell from grace in the aftermath of the 1998 midterm elections, he actually denounced his fellow repugs as "cannibals". Now that is certainly more of an extreme comment than you would expect from the Democratic side of the aisle. The fatal flaw in the Republican Party comes from one of its central tenets: that of individualism and the doctrine of "every man for himself". In their heart of hearts, the Repugs certainly believe this and on the issues of Social Security, Public Education and Welfare, would certainly force this "law of the jungle" on everyone. Within their own private sphere, this core belief may come back to haunt them.

Karl Rove is an especially interesting case: he knows where all the bodies are buried. He knows how the 2002 and 2004 elections were fixed. He may have information on whether Senators Mel Carnahan and Paul Wellstone may have been murdered and he certainly knows how the 2002 Georgia Senatorial election in which favored incumbant Max Cleland was rigged. When Karl falls, he may take the whole Republican party with him.

6. So interesting that their greatest power-the ability to trash anyone,
theeir conscienceless, coldblooded and calculating mercenary nature, is exactly the great weakness that will end up bringing them down.

9. For the past year
I've thought we would witness a show-down of sorts, when it became evident that either Rove or Cheney & Libby would be held ultimately responsible for this scandal. I think that will create the most interesting "group dynamics." Wilson has noted that Rove holds Cheney and Libby responsible for his error. Classic!
