Keep in mind that they did this simply to smear a political opponent.

They blew the cover of a CIA operative responsible for stopping the spread of WMDs on the black market (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster_Jennings_&_Associates).

They started a war based on false premises, a war which was completely unnecessary based on their own rationale (the charge Joe Wilson was making in July 2003).

Both of these actions has made us less safe.

It doesn't matter one whit whether the letter of this law is ever proven to have been violated. Look at the much bigger picture.

1. Yes, but smearing a political opponent isn't illegal!
CYA isn't illegal in itselof either.

It IS important to prove violation of SOME law, or all of this is for naught.

Now, I still doubt Fitz will be able to prove a violation of the law prohibiting the outing of a NOC because it's almost impossible to prove "exactly what Rove knew", but there are lots of other laws that come into play here, and I'm confident some of them will stick!

3. Latest approval at 42% (Ipsos/AP); trustworthiness at 41% (NBC/WSJ).

All of this is not for naught.

Last night, Jon Stewart said, after discussing the issue with Michael Issikoff "Isn't that enough to say 'Bye-bye!'"

His tone seemed to imply he wasn't talking about just Rove.

I think more and more, if we keep this on the issue of the war and Bush's misleading us into it, that this will become the national mindset (minus the 30-percenters who will never give up on him, of course).

5. OH of course that's true! There are 2 fights going on here.
One is legal and the other is political.

I was responding to the legal one, and PROOF is mandatory!

The longer and broader the accusations go on, the bigger the political problem is for ShrubCO. The best thing we can do is link every name possible to this mess. The perception will be that this corruption is Party wide! I actually think it is, but we do need the general population to believe that too!

2. "knowingly" is pretty broad.
It is not the same as intentional or purposeful.

A person acts knowingly when he is aware that his actions will probably have a certain result. The specific degree of harm does not need to be foreseeable. I did not mean to punch you or to send you to the hospital, but I did mean to swing my fist knowing that people were around. That's enough for "knowingly."

I keep hearing from Rove apologists that someone else spilled the beans on Plame before Rove did. I wonder if that is even a defense. That's like saying, sure I hit you, but someone else hit you first!

conniving, corrupt, scummy bastards with NO moral values running our country into a black hole and taking the world with it.

6. Who told Rove? There's a real issue. Cannot imagine the CIA tossing
NOC agents names about to just any ol political pole cat dirty trickster. Somebody with some pull and serious clearance is in deep doo-doo too.

Bolton? Scooter? Crash-cart? Hey, where is Crash-cart these days?

All of the above? Have some big guys in prison 'splain to Rove what life in the slammer is gonna be like for his fat white ass... get the rest of the story

7. don't forget that bush knew it from day one and covered it up by saying
that looking for the leaker in the WH was like looking for a needle in haystack (I may be paraphrasing some of it--but that is what he said... and that, in my opinion is a COVERUP .
