This Is What Novak Wrote
"Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative on weapons of mass destruction. Two
senior administration officials told me Wilson's wife suggested sending him to Niger to investigate the Italian report."

That is exactly what was printed by Novak. Where in it does it does Novak say that 'I told a senior administration official what or who Wilson's Wife was"?

So if he lied in the article he should be fired and if he lied to the prosecutor he should be jailed. Your choice, doesn't matter to me one single bit as long as everyone knows which it was. Did he lie in the article or is he lieing now?

2. That appears to be treasonous.
Perhaps one of these days Novak's employers will notice . . .

3. He's probably lying both times
But it is at least theoretically possible that it happened like this.

Some senior administration official, let's call him "Cheney" just for conversation, calls up Novak and says "Hey, this is Cheney, you should tell your reporter buddies to back off on joe wilson; I didn't hire him, his wife, who works for the CIA as an operative, got him the job!"

Then a few minutes later Rove calls up and says "Hey Novak, how's it hanging man?

"Oh it's hanging fine man. I scored some primo cannibus from south of the border man. You want to come over and toke up?"

"NO man. I was wondering; you hear any trippy rumors lately?"

"Oh yeah, that space case Cheny called up and like tottaly told me that Joe Wilson's Wife is like a CIA Operative. That's how that dude got the job."

"Whoa. You mean she's like a spy."

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Wonder what it's like doing it with a spy. He he he he"

"Yeah, i looked it up. She has a really cool spy nam. It's . . ."

"Hey don't tell me man. I got an even better name in my head. So like are you going to write about it."

"Yeah man. Easy article. Writes itself."

"OK man. Later."

"Later."

So you see it is possible. But not likely I suppose.

5. There's an operative term involved....
The RWW end is claiming variations upon the theme of information reaching Novak that Plame was "an analyst" through whose insider appointment her husband, Wilson, got some kind of a "boobdoggle" free ride to Niger - although why anyone would want to go to Niger, even cost-free seems to be a point that even Rove cannot successfully fantasize.

Thus, their escape clause rests mainly upon the cartoon of an "analyst" sitting in some CIA basement, analysing god-knows-what, but most likely in antique Vatican code.

Your direct quote, however, clearly uses the term "operative", meaning an active, covert officer on duty.

And that, kids, is what the guys with the handcuffs term, "an operative, dead-cinch, BUST".

4. Certainly, I'm not defender of Karl Rove, but I've read 3 articles
online today from NYT, WPo, and Associated Press. They all say that Rove was given the information about Plame from reporters, one of them being Novak. Do I believe that? Hell, no! I think that's their concocted story to give to the grand jury.

But lets say it is so: Could 2 WH officials, other than Rove, told Novak and he told Rove what he had heard and he wanted a third confirmation from Rove???

After reading the above articles from these news sources and hearing it on C-Span, it sounds to me like either Rove's lawyer leaked this info to the paper and/or someone from the Fitzgerald's office did...someone who is sympathetic to Bush and his lying scoundrels.

I also keeping remembering what Novak said one day not long ago on CNN that he would write about this when the investigation is over and that we would be surprised. I'll be surprised if anyone is indicted because of all the lies being told.

7. As Cooper's attorney said yesterday
the Court's reviewed sealed investigation documents relative to this case and determined that two reporters must reveal their sources as a result. There is something very serious afoot here and neither we, nor any reporter for the NYT, WAPO, etc. know what information those sealed documents contain.

9. He doesn't have to say anything in his article about telling a senior
administration official. This was a smear piece but not testimony.

11. "Hi!" Back, and Thanks!
Karl Rove, bulk mailing list salesman, is a plain case of reaching a level of incompetence which he should never have even approached.

If Karl's down to, "Turn it ass-backwards and hope the fools don't notice," he's scraping the bottom of the umbrella stand, on his way out of the door.
