Karl Rove had SECURITY CLEARANCE!
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 12:16 PM by ck4829
The Dirty Trickster had unauthorized access to Government secrets.

And yet Sibel Edmonds can't talk...

Karl Rove who was never Elected or Confirmed by anyone had access to vital information about this country.

That just screams espionage to me.

2. That is a disgrace - Bush is soft on security
It just shows you how this administration plays and unfortunately they are going to play dirtier probably with innocent peoples' lives.

4. huh?
A lot of people have security clearance in this country that are never elected or confirmed. His having a clearance is not an issue. That he abused his clearance IS. People have been stripped of their clearance and jailed for offenses less than Roves.

6. You go through red tape and get them

Anyone in Rove's position (Deputy Chief of Staff, among others) would need a security clearance.

Countless people have security clearances because that's what their job requires. For example, my father had one a long time ago because one of the companies he worked for did some work with the military. His, like most, wasn't particularly high level obviously, but these aren't exactly rare.

Stripping Rove of his clearance basically fires him btw, because of the huge amount of classified material in the White House.

7. I should have phrased it differently
Karl Rove is very powerful, he does not deserve any of that power.

9. But Rove wasn't Deputy Chief of Staff when this happened
Rove wasn't an official member of the White House unless I'm wrong.

So what is a campaign manager doing with info on CIA agents? And why is he talking to reporters about it?

11. You're right about obtaining clearance...
However, if I remember correctly, he wasn't Deputy Chief of Staff when he outed Plame, he was merely a political advisor at that point.

12. He wasn't Deputy Chief of Staff
until 2005. He was a presidential advisor until then.

8. I wonder what Rove did with his clearance during the campaign.
It might be worth reviewing Rove's use of his security clearance.
