LOL... No shit. You couldn't make this one up if you had to. This is a too strange to believe without seeing thing. I would hate to be the cop hearing from his buds on this one.

Officer involved: Man at Wal-Mart allegedly corners cop, repeatedly rams him and takes his gun before being Tasered

By Justin Hill
The Salt Lake Tribune

Pinned against the produce stands in a Salt Lake County Wal-Mart by a 73-year-old man in a wheelchair, Deputy Christopher Maez drew his handgun.

Pointing the gun at at the elderly man, Maez told him to back up or he would shoot.

Instead, John T. Snyder allegedly tried to grab the deputy's gun. Realizing the threat would not stop Snyder, Maez drew his Taser. It took several shots from the stun gun before Snyder allegedly stopped driving his motorized wheelchair into the deputy.

<snip>

Snyder stopped only after Maez shot him several times with the Taser, court records say. Snyder was charged with disarming a peace officer, a first-degree felony, assault on a peace officer, a class A misdemeanor, and interference with a peace officer making an arrest, a class B misdemeanor.

<snip>

Thank god neither party was seriously injured, but I have to wonder if Maez was maybe 80 years old?

7. Follow up story! It gets even stranger! With a pic of the EVILDOER!
(ABC 4 News)-- A 72-year-old Utah man is in trouble with the law, over a recent dispute in which he allegedly pinned a Salt Lake County Sheriff's Deputy with his wheelchair. However, the man claims it was the officer who harrassed him --and zapped him with a taser gun.

On July 4th, Tom Snyder arrived at a local discount store to do some shopping. However, Snyder has had past troubles with personnel at the store, and when employees spotted him the deputy asked him to leave.

"He asked me to follow him, which I did," Snyder told ABC 4 News. "Then he told me, 'I'm going to teach you some respect.'"

The man says he took offense to the deputy's behavior, and told him so. That's when the officer reportedly reached for his stun gun.

9. I recognize that type of chair
it has the same glitch as my scooter...the motor can be triggered by a cellphone ringing and the only way to stop it is to turn it off completely. If the cop had a radio that was broadcasting it could have activated the chair without the man doing anything. Which could account for the charge of 'ramming'.

As for the guy being feisty, I wonder if maybe he isn't allowed in WalMart for the same reason they don't like me bringing my scooter in...I have a union bumper sticker on it and I always wear my union shirt and never buy anything.

....at least you're not dead...Had to check the original post...if he is indeed as reported a "repeat tresspasser" this is merely disgusting and proof the officer is a coward..If they cannot document this I'm envisioning multi-million dollar lawsuits-And sayin' so DON'T MAKE IT SO- they better have multiple police reports and/or a restraining order....

11. Let's see this is the THIRD time this asshole caused problems
at the same store.

This is not the first time Snyder has had a run-in with the law. In June, he was given a citation for disorderly conduct at the same store. On a different occasion, a similar complaint was made against Snyder, but no charges were filed.

"Just because you are in a wheelchair... you don't have the right to offend all of these people," said Sergeant Paul Jaroscak, of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department.

15. The store I work at has a guy that is the same way
This guy struck a manager with a aluminum kane

but wait, that's not all

-He also has jumped over the counter at a cashier
-Shit all over the men's restroom and smeared it on the walls
-always has his wal-mart card maxed out, then get's pissed when you refuse the sale
-smells REALLY BAD
-always buying something, then brining it back 2 hours later saying it doesn't work (they always do work, but this continues all day, literally)
-stole some shoes once
-tried to hijack cars in the parking lot
-almost got hit by a semi truck (walked right in front of it. I saw the whole thing.
and a list longer than I can post here

last time he was almost arrested for something serious that I was not told why but he got a warning that next time he got violent that he would be arrested.

If he attacked me, damn right I would taser him. This guy I have seen get mean.

13. For those us that follow the follies of Wal-Mart
it seems like one of these weird incidents where someone gets hurt happens every week at Wally World. Bad karma or something with those stores. You don't hear bizarre stories about Target.
