Please read my LTTE and comment
I'm new at this so want to check it out first. Thanks!

This administration values loyalty and when Ambassador Wilson said the Whitehouse claims of WMD in Iraq were false, the administration attempted to discredit him. Karl Rove protests that he didn't name the CIA operative but he did in fact give up her identity. Such parsing reminds me of the well-ridiculed phrase "that depends on what the definition of is is." The difference here is a breach of national security not sex between two consenting adults.

Missing are the cries from the Republicans in the House and Senate for President Bush to "come clean to the American people?" Where is their outrage over Bush's lies about WMD in Iraq? Instead we hear talking points attempting to minimize Karl Rove's disclosure of Valerie Plame's identity and the role of her husband.

This behavior is nothing new for Karl Rove. George HW Bush fired Rove for leaking information to Robert Novak in 1992. Rove orchestrated a whispering campaign against John McCain in South Carolina in 2000.

It is time for George W Bush to follow his father's example and fire Rove.

1. I like it!

I don't know if you can work it in, but whenever possible, I am trying to tie Plame back to DSM's "fixing facts and intelligence" quote.

3. Hi--just a couple of thoughts
The first sentence isn't working for me--the two clauses aren't closely-enough related.

I think Wilson went public about the administration's lie about Saddam seeking uranium in Africa, not WMDs in Iraq.

First sentence of ¶2 shouldn't end a ?

Sorry. Nitpicky.

Want me to try to help re-word? (Or, alternately, you can just tell me to STFU.) :hi:

4. Just my opinion,

but I think you are better off picking on point and hammering it in a letter to the editor.

I would either focus the letter on "where are the republican voices" or "this is indicative of this administration" and build the rest of the letter around the key point.

6. Comment here as well! Work in progress...
The very likely possibility that Karl Rove, Bush’s foremost political mentor and advisor, had leaked the identity of an undercover CIA operative because of her husband’s opposition to the invasion of Iraq is very serious, one that the country should be exploring in depth. This leak was clearly done to intimidate any person in the government who would merely question the administration’s reasons (now thoroughly discredited) or aim to invade Iraq. The operative’s husband, Joe Wilson, the former ambassador (appointed by President HW Bush) to Gabon and Sao Tome, was sent to Niger to investigate the claim that Saddam Hussein sought the means to develop weapons of mass destruction from the region. When Wilson found that there was every indication to the fact that Hussein did NOT do any of this (and absolutely no evidence of the contrary), Wilson then wrote an op-ed article in New York Times, in which he reported what he had found (or not found). Soon afterwards, Robert Novak wrote an op-ed which exposed Valerie Plame (Wilson’s wife) to be a CIA operative. Novak claimed that two senior White House officials gave him the information. This is surely retribution against Wilson for showing the truth to the White House’s false claims on Iraq. Not only is this an act against simply opposing the Bush Administration’s aims, not only is this a very low act against an individual who tried to report the truth to the American people, this is an act of treason. The officials who did this need to be found and held accountable for, in effect, endangering the life of an American operative for political motives. The White House has time and again stated that Karl Rove was not involved, and that those involved would be “taken care of”. However, now that Karl Rove has been linked to this scandal, no move has been made to hold him accountable in any way, and this proves that the Bush Administration lied to the American people to protect an official, as well as their own guilt. The White House continues to stonewall the American people on this issue, which is virtually an obstruction of justice.

However, I think the correct term is "whisper campaign." I may be incorrect, though.
