1. Zell has been an even bigger disappointment to me...
than Tony Blair. I'm originally from north Georgia, and I'm so ASHAMED of all those primary and general election votes I cast for ol' sorry-ass Zell. I hope WSB rips him a new ventilation in his fundament! :hi:

6. The Governor is considered a state employee in Georgia..
And all state employees accrue vacation time, which is paid out when they leave their state jobs. By state law, the Governor is not paid out his/her accrued vacation leave. Yet Zell Miller received a check for ~$20,000 for vacation time, which he cashed. There was a note in his file specifically instructing payroll that vacation should not be paid out per state law. After WSB contacted him for an interview, which he refused, he paid back the money to the state with interest and the explanation that he didn't realize the money had been paid out. How do you not notice an extra $20,000+?

4. Please elaborate.
We have no TV. He has been a political hit man for years. I would like to know what is the focus of the piece. Money laundering? Bribes? What?

14. I remember
either earlier this month or late last month on Malloy's show he was reading about something with Zell Miller and he told how Zell (where did his parents get his name??) took tons of cash too. He didn't technically steal it but he still took it.

15. RawStory: Zell Miller pocketed tax dollars for 'entertainment'
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Zell_Miller_pocketed_tax_dollars_for_entertainme_0711.html

When this nationally famous figure left the governor's office in 1999, he pocketed more than $60,000 in taxpayer funds earmarked for entertainment and other expenses at the Governor's Mansion, WSB-TV investigative reporter Dale Cardwell revealed last week.

Miller also picked up a check for more than $20,000 for "unused leave"-a sum to which he was not entitled as a constitutional officer, Cardwell also reported.

<...>

In essence, Miller says that he was technically eligible to take the mansion money as his own because no one said he could not. "When I retired from state government, I received only what I was advised was legal, ethical and traditional," his statement read, citing an attorney general's official opinion from 1969.

Never mind that every other living governor from Jimmy Carter to Sonny Perdue told reporter Caldwell that they did not consider the mansion money theirs-and that they would not have taken it. The cash was meant for use at the mansion, not for lining the occupants' pockets, they said.
