Mentally Canadian
The day the Canadian Parliment voted to allow gay marriage, I read the comment by one of their MPs saying it was a victory for "Canadian Values."

Huh. Interesting.

Let's compare.

Gay marriage shows "Canadian Values."

Medical Marijuana shows "Canadian Values."

A "Protection of Marriage Act" shows "American Values."

The persecution/prosecution of sick people shows "American Values."

I've figured it out.

We liberals are mentally Canadian. I was just born a few hundred miles south of where I should have been.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

1. Don'f you think you may be misreading things?
Don't you think you are just the victim of the cunning genius of Karl Rove?...He figured out how to get the right wing religious zealots to the polls to vote for the Chimp. If you took a poll, I would bet that most Americans would not be for what you call "American values."...but the sad thing is that most Americans don't vote!...Therefore the far right values of the people who do vote are what is governing your country?.....Do you agree? :)

2. The post was somewhat
tongue-in-cheek.

I think a majority of eligible voters in this country are completely disenchanted with the whole system. It's only since I married my wife that she started voting. She's a Libertarian, but at least she's smart enough to vote against this Neo-Con regime by casting a vote for Kerry in the last election.

But you wouldn't believe how many times I've heard people say (mostly women, which makes me want to scream) "politics has nothing to do with me," or "I don't pay attention to politics."

Fine, I often respond...politics sure as hell pays attention to YOU.

People owe it to the soldiers over there to at least get out there and exercise the freedom they're allegedly fighting for.

"Democracy--Use it or Lose it."

"Support the Troops--VOTE!" You dumb bastards.
