Bill Clinton and the art of the possible.
I now am beginning to see the wisdom of Bill Clinton's methods, especially his cozying up to the Bushes. At one time I suspected he was trying only to promote the prospects of Hillary for President. But, as I see it now, he was the link between Blair and Bush, and through Blair he has managed to draw Bush into the program of poverty eradication in Africa, and I believe, he will also use Blair as a way to support the Kyoto protocols and bringing about true peace between the Plaestinians and Israel.

In all these things, Bill Clinton has shown a remarkable ability to recognize his own limitations, submerge his ego and work with people who hold the power to accomplish goals that mean something to him.

I think Bill Clinton is a visionary and that he sees beyond what is good for democrats or even the U.S...to what is good for the whole world and all it's people. He confuses us because we label him as a democrat or an American and then expect him to act like one. I think he sees his purpose much bigger than that. If you broaden your view of him, everything he does makes sense. If he encourages Hillary to go for the presidency, it will be because he believes she'll make the best world leader.

I agree with your last statement. Seeing yourself as one with the world is not ego...it's very humble.

If he thinks Blair can help him, he will do it.If he thinks Bush will help him, he will do it.If he thinks the Christian fundamentalists will help him, he will do it.

For a man who is driven by ideals and ideas, he seems remarkably free of his own ego and is able to accomplish things.

That is a very admirable quality, IMHO.
