Why weren't the London terrorists suicide bombers
Isn't that Al-Qaida's MO after all? Most of the major attacks in Iraq have supposedly been suicide car bombers so why is no one asking the question why AQ doesn't want to die and receive their just awards from Allah now? Surely they could have done even more damage wearing suicide vests than merely placing timed devices. Smells fishy. AQ is the default bad guy I know but I think this is someone else altogether.

11. CIA Don't Do Suicide
And think about this one. If bombs were placed in back-packs, packages, or whatever, wouldn't you think a lot of Brit's would be suspicious if a Mid-Eastern person left it behind?

4. My thought
is that they use suicide bombers in places where security is so tight they can't plant the devices undetected. This wasn't the case in London, so it wasn't necessary for any of them to die in order to set them off.

5. Been wondering too...
Why is it that if the low tech approach of road bombs, suicide bombers and remotely triggered packages have been so wildly successful that the same approaches aren't used with impunity in Europe and North America by now.

The only thing I've come up with is that it is much harder to melt away into anonymity in a non-Muslim country and the backlash against whole ethnic/national groups could be extreme (if the bombers care...)

I really wish that the moderate groups of *all* religions would rise up and reign in their extremist violent offshoots that are willing to kill innocents.
Hell, I wish this would happen in politics.

I really am a believer in the Middle Way,walking the razors edge. I see the "value" in extremism as providing Movement--a ZAP-- to any energy that has become stagnant, but extremism won't work in perpetuity. IMHO...

6. You're engaging
in idle speculation. The explosions in Bali and Spain weren't suicide bombers either; do you think terrorists are locked into a single mode of operation?

8. In a subway where their is little security they don't need to be suicide
bombers. In Iraq their is security all over the place. I don't think the World Trade Center bombing in the early 90's was a suicide bomber. I think it had to do with security issues.

13. Maybe they didn't want to, maybe their cell isn't big enough,
maybe they decided that they'll save their blood and guts to splatter in some other mission.

Or maybe none of the above. There's al-qa'ida, and there's al-qa'ida.
