The Queen's speech about the London Bombings.
You are probably not interested, but I am just glad that someone made a speech about this that did not try to justify it because of the "War on Terra".:eyes:

Yesterday's bombings in London have deeply affected us all. I know I speak for everyone in expressing my sympathy to those who have been caught up in these events and above all to the relatives and friends of those who have lost their lives. My thoughts are also with the injured some of whom I have been able to see and talk to today.

I also want to thank you and all members of the emergency services and Transport for London who are working with such care, professionalism and sensitivity often in very difficult circumstances. You have the respect of all of us as you go about your business.

Finally I want to express my admiration for the people of our capital city who in the aftermath of yesterday's bombings are calmly determined to resume their normal lives.

That is the answer to this outrage. Sadly we in Britain have been all too familiar with acts of terror and members of my generation, especially at this end of London, know that we have been here before. But those who perpetrate these brutal acts against innocent people should know that they will not change our way of life.

Atrocities such as these simply reinforce our sense of community, our humanity, and our trust in the rule of law. That is the clear message from us all.

3. I heard her speak ...
Her words were strong and the Queen's voice was a mix a strength and defiance. She commanded respect for herself and the British people.

4. I was thinking it is sad that she is seeing this..
both at the beginning of her life (30s-40s WWII) and towards the end (no aspirations being cast on her longetivity; you know what I mean. Damn; the Queen Mother lasted forever, didn't she?)

I do really admire the Queen, even though I am not supposed to, ya know? Everything I have read about her points to a wonderfully sweet woman who really does care about things. Unlike a certain other person across the pond... She also loathes the Bushes and is known as quite the Green, so how could we not like her! The poor woman had to have dinner with the dictatortot. I admire her for not calling in sick.:) He did ruin the Buck House gardens after all:eyes:

6. I like the royal family OK
Some of them I could live without but oh well, most families have a few weird ones in the bunch. The royal family is very good at this sort of thing. I'll give her a thumbs up

8. I called my mom in...
... to see her speak on TV (my mom's a bit younger) and we were discussing that very issue. I'll say this the women in that family convey strength and dignity.

7. She is great. I especially like her reference to
"rule of law" and "it will not make us change the way we live". This is victory. Unlike us in the United States where the WTC bombings were used to start a unneeded war and take away basic constitutional freedoms. I add my condolences to the victims of this latest idiocy.
