2. blaming Powell for the war?
The whole column wasn't availabe, but that seems like quite a stretch. It's pretty clear this war was going to happen, Powell or not, UN or not, and imo Congress or not.

Regarding Powell's diplomacy, you had Cheney, Rummy, Wolfy, etc., undermining him at every step.

3. Why Colin? I don't like him but.....
it's been apparent to me that he has been a scapegoat for quite a while. He and Rumsfeld don't get along and, for a while there was steady drumbeat about his disloyalty from the liberal media.

He seems like he is less conservative than the neocons he works with and has been pushed into some of the more atrocious things he's done (ie., the "I'm not reading this bullshit" incident).

Still, I know he is ultimately responsible since he could have stepped down on his own. But it's way too easy to get rid of him. He's been expendable for quite a while anyway.

If they dump him, I sure as hell want a copy of his tell-all book. It would blow the whole administration to pieces.

4. Powell had to lie
I knew this when I saw him at the UN. I don't think he liked doing it, this judgment is based on what I saw ... his face told so much that day. I cannot forget it.

However, he is up to his eyeballs in it whether he likes it or not. If he does go, who will be the next guy? It could be someone worse perhaps?

I hope he does write a book. I'd love to read it as well!

:kick:

5. Powell's not going anywhere unless he resigns of his own volition.
They need him.

6. Powell?!?!?
Oh MAN! What a dupe! I hope he doesn't go down without a fight.

George Bush must ultimately be held accountable.

I heard Tweety say earlier that Condi or Dick Cheney will have to answer...but Bush isn't allowed to be impeached (or something to that effect)...you know how he seems to LURVE Bush, but still!! Everybody is jumping ship!!
