"London-like attacks not expected in US"? How do they know this????
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050707/us_nm/security_usa_dc_4

Our government is telling us that, in spite of the alert being raised to Orange, that they are confident that no terrorist operations are being planned within the US at this time. There has been no indications, they say

Oh YEAH? How the hell would they know? How can they say something like this? How can the Bushistas say there was absolutely positively no way to predict Sept 11 (in spite of all that intelligence they had received in the year leading up to the attacks), but that they are confident there is nothing being carried out at the present moment?

Sounds like bullshit to me. What is freaking me out about this is that it's being spun as "America and Britain stand firmly in their resolve."

Cui bono?

1. They weren't expected in Madrid or London, either

I suppose we should expect them when we least expect them?

2. Here's an interesting question
If they thought fear from terrorism will benefit them, would they not try to honk that horn?

3. "They" don't know what the hell is going on.
The only difference between "they" and anybody else is that "they" get paid by the government to say shit like that.

14. Not justified but probably inevitable
While our actions i Iraq, as you speak, are less than honorable, an attack on innocent American citizens or any others in the whole world would never be justified.
It is the increased probability of attack here that the * gang has set us up for.
We are not safer as a result of the Iraq invasion.
There was a period of almost 10 years between the attacks on the WTC with who knows how many thwarted attempts. We may see an attack like todays at any time in the future.
The * policy has just about insured this.
When it does happen it will be a horrific event with the loss of innocent lives.
The justification for such an event will be in the minds of the perpetrators as * must have some twisted justification in his mind for his actions.

16. Welcome to DU
I understand why you made that assertion,
but I think it may be more accurate to
say the chances of attacks on American soil
have been escalated by the actions of US led
military/corporatism.
Terrorism is NEVER justified- I can not agree
with your choice of words.
The murder of innocent people is unjustified-
period.
Not in this country or any other.

10. Well, the BushCo/neoCON foreign policy has certainly increased,...
,...the likelihood that another attack will take place here. That cabal has inflamed anti-Americanism a hundred-fold around the globe. *sigh*

15. So, There WERE Indications In Britain Of Today's Attacks?
So, the reason for optimism is that there are no indications. So that means there MUST have been indications that the attacks today were coming. And, they did nothing?!?!?

Or, they didn't know today's attacks were coming because there were no indications, which means a lack of indications is a meaningless piece of data.

I'll go with the latter.

19. Because maybe shrubco only let it happen or arranged for it
to happen in the U.K., to tell Americans two things - our foreign policies are working, because it didn't happen here, but we still need to be afraid, be very, very afraid. Helps to take the heat off of Plamegate and other things, too.
