Why so much more attention on London?

I love England as much as the next person, and I am very saddened by what happened, but I really don't remember there being this much angst, particularly from the media, over the Madrid bombings. In terms of ghastly numbers, Spain suffered a greater loss (based on current reports) - 191 dead, 1800 wounded.

I think when it comes to terrorist bombings Tel Aviv has to lead the list. No comment on the why and when, but an observation on where this sort of thing is more commonplace.

Spain elected that government due to the Conservative Spanish government LYING ABOUT WHO DID THE TERROR ATTACK. The government tried to blame Basque seperatists and got caught. Socialists won not because Spain gave into terror but because Spain threw out liars. That is a major difference.

but I live in NYC, so maybe our local news carried more about it too.

I really don't think we have to go about comparing death tolls to determine how upset/angry this should make us. Clearly, the intent was to kill as many people as possible in London. Same as Spain. Same as here.

I keep pretty careful track of the news, and I just don't recall wall to wall coverage of the bombings...and the kind of nervousness this attack is causing.

My guess is that Britain is perceived to be a closer ally, but that fact shouldn't affect the way the media covers it...course expecting the media to do its job these days is a pie in the sky dream!!!

Every local radio station here in DC that I listen to...including the Sports station are covering this...breaking into regular programming to stream CNN feeds...that did not happen with the Spain bombings..

I am not saying the Spain bombings were not covered, they were, but much more as a news story than this great tragedy.

18. What are you talking about? There was TONS of coverage

regarding Madrid.

They haven't discovered all of the bodies in London, either. I would be very, very surprised if only 40 died.
