Do You Ever Wonder When the Pope Will Die?
I'll bet the administration collectively prays for it so that news of their failures will be eclipsed by solemn looping cable news coverage of the event, the funeral, and the choosing of a successor. The whole drama of the black smoke/white smoke ritual could serve them well, for a long, long period of time.

2. Yeah. I don't know if he already died, and they're covering it up.
I haven't seen him on TV for a while.

3. Ever read Nostradamus?
According to him, we have only one more Pope coming to us, after our current, and then sqaunto-end of civilization.

Creepy. Wonder what he was smokin'?

4. The Pope even took a bullet back in 1981, and that didn't do him in...
He's not exactly the Energizer Bunny, but he does keep going, and going...

8. True. I think he could
surprise us and hang on for another ten years.

But what do I know? I'm not even Catholic.

6. Black smoke/white smoke:
Always wondered what kind of weed is in that vatican bong....that leads to such esoteric choices of spiritual leader. Guess they already know when Wojtyla will finally pop his clogs - around the date that the official murder trial of God's banker Roberto Calvi (Banco Ambrosiano asshole) opens.....

9. CONSTANTLY!!
This pope has been one of the most hateful and narrow-minded and myopic destructive and divisive political figures in recent history. I'll be glad to see him replaced.

11. I think he will
before the end of the year.

Will be a long "election" - followed by a recall led by Opus Dei and Scalia.

12. For a second I though you were talking to me
(Just kidding)

Okay, with my tinfoil hat firmly place on my head, here's my take.

At the moment, the Pope is the only person alive who knows the third secret of Fatima. According to the Blessed Mother's instructions the third secret was supposed to revealed to the world in 1960 (date?). The pope at the time thought that revealing this secret would put the planet into turmoil and disobeyed the BM and did not do has she had instructed.

My guess is that John Paul, who has also refused to reveal the secret, knows that upon his death, the rest of this supposedly horrific prophecy will begin, hence the reason why he is hanging on for dear life to his own life. Otherwise, you would think he would be running to meet his maker.

14. This third secret of Fatima business reminds me of another
'situation' where secret letters are set to reveal the posible end of the world:

Nikita Khruschev is reputed to have left top secret instructions to his successors in the event of Russia/USSR being fatally attacked by nuclear weapons:

He instructed: Open the secret compartment I have told you about. What do you find? Two Letters? Go On, open the first letter. Ok, what does it say? It says inside: "This is the first letter"?????????????????????Go on, then, open the second letter. What does it say inside? What do you mean, it says: "This is the second letter"????????????????????????
