Young Repubs - Misinformation about Protests at their LV Convention
Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 05:12 PM by RamboLiberal
Looks like a load of their usual crap. Especially the part that most of them have served or are intending to serve in the military! I want to see the proof.

Las Vegas, Nevada--YRNC 2005 Chairman Nathan Taylor has been responding to attacks by leftists who threaten protests at the 2005 Young Republican Convention.

"In recent weeks I have received numerous e-mails from leftist groups bent on infiltrating the Convention and protesting the appearance of veterans of the War on Terror. We will not allow these cowards to dishonor our servicemen," stated Taylor.

The e-mails label the Convention attendees as "repuglicans" and "Wingnuts" and call upon fellow leftists to focus their protests on "a panel discussion with recently returned Iraq and Afghanistan veterans." Despite these insults and threats the 2005 Young Republican Convention has adopted as its theme "Supporting our Troops, Honoring the Fallen", and shall host Operation Interdependence, Honor the Fallen and the National Flag Foundation, all of whom assist U.S. servicemen and their families. Additionally, star of the television show The Apprentice, former Marine and military booster Kelly Perdew shall serve as master of ceremonies at the premier Convention event. As well, the threatened panel of Young Republicans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan shall discuss their experiences and the importance of the War on Terror.

"The childish insults and threatened protests of these leftists reveal ignorance of, and disrespect for, the sacrifice borne by many hosted by the Convention," Taylor continued. "Most of our members either serve, have served, or plan to serve in the United States Armed Forces, or have participated in events or projects supporting the United States Armed Forces. We will not be intimidated."

4. Served, going to serve, or...
You missed the little loophole at the end of the quote where he said
" or have participated in events or projects supporting the United States Armed Forces.". That's right they have ribbons on their trucks so that means they won't be intimidated. They've waved a flag and rah-rahed for Bush so they are bad ass. He should also be reminded that playing wargames on his computer doesn't count as serving. Yes, sacasm fully intended.

5. "Veteran of the War on Terror"?
There we go again with the war on concepts lingo again. We do have veterans of the Afghan war and the Iraq war, but by this guy's logic I guess someone who worked in the VISTA program in the 1960's is a veteran of the War on Poverty.

6. "...or have participated in events...supporting the Armed Forces"
I love that one. Being present at a fundraiser for troops now constitutes "military service".

7. They lie so easily...
it's as if they went through a little shock therapy to remedy any guilt they may have about knowingly voicing untruths.

I've come to realize that they believe that they are somehow "revolutionaries" and have it all figured out.

10. I'd like to see
these people confronted by Iraqi combat veterans who are now against the war. Wonder if they'd be willing to swap "war" stories.

12. I've got to get back home so I can protest....
I sooo hate living in Oklahoma. After being born and raised in Vegas, this place is a constant and utter bore. I'd love to show up and rain on the Repuke parade. :puke:

13. Maybe...
Someone should remind them that owning a gun, reading survival manuals, driving their dad's H2 Hummer and playing Xbox doesn't count as military service--all I'm sayin'.

16. Enough caveats there to make a meal out of!! hheheee f**kin whiners, wimps
and most assuredly wingnuts.

ALso maybe if you guys weren't so friggin intent on destroying anyone and everyone on the left until they convert to your views you'd get a little leeway... but those days have long since faded. You all wanted a war with us? You picked a war with most of the world. Good job, for the bigoted and shortsighted!
