War Profiteers ...The latest Halliburton stories!

Halliburton Hearing Unearths New Abuse

Edit : Snip>

Spoiled Food and Leftovers

A third witness at the hearing was Rory Maryberry, a former Halliburton
contractor who worked at the dining facilities in Camp Anaconda. Located just north of Baghdad, near the town of Balad, Anaconda is the largest United States military base in Iraq.

Mayberry worked for Halliburton in Iraq from February to April 2004. He claims the company charged the Army for 20,000 meals a day when it was only serving 10,000 during his tenure. Subsequenttly he says he was punished for speaking to auditors by being banished to the more dangerous outpost of Falluja.

In a video-taped deposition shown during the packed hearing, Mayberry
explained how the company would sometimes supply food that was over a year past the expiration date or had spoiled due to inconsistent refrigeration. When the United States military occasionally refused the spoiled food, Halliburton truckers were instructed to take them to the next base in the hope that they would escape scrutiny.

Worst affected were the non-American workers. Mayberry says that Halliburton was supposed to feed 600 Turkish and Filipino meals. "Although KBR charged for this service, it didn't prepare the meals. Instead, these workers were given leftover food in boxes and garbage bags after the troops ate. Sometimes there were not leftovers to give them," said Mayberry. Much More...

4. I saw the testimony on C-Span...
The Republican congressmen had better get a conscience soon & call for a much-needed hearing into this - Halliburton is taking the U.S. treasury to the cleaners.

The low life GOPers in congress who are letting this slide, are damned sure not supporting the troops! Stealing from the country in a time of war is about as unpatriotic and immoral as it gets! It doesn't look like the GOP leadership is defending America against all enemies foreign or domestic, like they swore on the Bible that they would do...

Edit: BTW, thanks for the link I'll pass it on to some folks around here!

11. YW, Hubert.
How'd you like the way the "coalition of the willing" troops were treated? Halliburton was committed to serving them their respective ethnic foods, yet they were served leftover American food handed over to them in garbage bags.

Not surprising, really, because this administration doesn't even care to provide critical body protection equipment to its own troops. Howard Dean stated on "Hardball" that whenever Rumsfeld goes to Iraq he has his own specially-made Humvee shipped over (another added taxpayer expense). Apparently, he doesn't have faith in the (inferior) Humvee's already in place in Iraq.

6. I bet our Soldiers can tell us some real stories about these Rambos.
PBS embedded journalists say they have a very distinctive style that makes them instantly recognizable. That's handy. :sarcasm:

12. I can't imagine why we haven't heard from the GOP and guys...
like Jerry Foulwill, or Brother Pat over at the club 700, bitching about the American soldiers going hungry after the country has spent 300 billion dollars on Iraq! I guess it's because they worry so much about "Morality" and values and sh*t, that they fail to see the immorality and pain they've all bought into. Greed is the only "Awesome Power" behind the Oral Majority!

HELLiburton is an issue we need to jump all over!

14. Nine billion dollars totally missing in action?

Billion Dollar Overcharges

Snip>

The study estimates that Halliburton has received roughly 52 percent of the $25.4 billion that the Pentagon has paid out to so far to 77 private contractors in Iraq.

This is divided into two major kinds of contracts. Under the first, known as LOGCAP, logistical support like cooking and cleaning are outsourced to civilian workers, Halliburton has so far received $8.6 billion. The company is reimbursed for its actual costs and then paid a premium of 1 percent to 3 percent, depending on performance.

The second contract, known as RIO, was for the repair of Iraqi oil fields in the immediate aftermath of the 2003 invasion and for imports of consumer fuels. This project is now complete and cost the Pentagon $2.5 billion. A second RIO contract is now underway.

18. It's hard to tell what all they did hide!
The truth is always hidden when Bush is involved...

I think B&R could even have been one of the movers and shakers in the deal in Dallas along about the end of November of 1963.
