Today's Capitol false alarm...a little TOO CONVENIENT, maybe??
Call me a tin-foil head, but doesn't it seem odd that there would be another small plane Capitol encroachment incident THE DAY AFTER BUSH'S SPEECH ON TERRORISM? Also, I haven't heard a peep about the pilots, pictures of the plane, or any other confirmatory evidence of a plane on mainstream TV tonight.

Do we have pilot names, originating airports, etc. to confirm? The paranoid in me wants an intrepid reporter to investigate any unusual calls or recent payments to the pilots in question from government sources.

No, it seems typical and predictible. Again, they've "saved" us from Al Qaeda!

:woohoo:

4. From the AP:
The plane originated in Delaware and was headed to Ohio, said Gary Bracken, a spokesman for the Bureau of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Bracken said the pilot wrote a flight plan but did not file it with federal officials.
<snip>
The offending plane was a King Air 350, said Michael D. Kucharek, a spokesman for North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado.

6. Was the pilot's skin dark?

If so he was arrested.

If he is dark, he is now in Gitmo!

5. Possibly a Rovian ploy to raise the scare factor. Screw that. I am so sick
of this decade and it's only halfway through. Crap.

7. There was a line of intense thunderstorms
sweeping across Maryland from west to east at the time. Maybe the pilot or pilots diverted from their intended route to avoid the bad weather. At about 6:45 p.m. when the Capitol was evacuated, the storms would have been near Frederick and Camp David headed towards Carroll County, west of Baltimore. Thunderstorms hit northern Virginia at about 7:45 p.m. The plane was sent to the Winchester VA airport.

11. I work for a moderate newspaper in a conservative town
and when this story topic was read outloud in the afternoon news budget meeting half the room went silent, the other half just broke out laughing. The "terror in the milk supply" story had the same response.
I think a lot of people are finally figuring things out.

Thats the kind of stuff that wears on peoples patience...in fact - the recent string of false alarms sort of goes hand in hand with Bush's decline...

Americans see the alerts/alarms as a by-product of the War in Iraq - not as a result of 9-11. It creates the impression that BushCo is endangering the whole country with his crusade.

Also adds to the impression that they are just as afraid of Average Americans as they are of Al Queda...
