NBC news says they resorted to this method because although the US military provided a list of the top ten foreign fighters, they refused to give a breakdown by nationality. Wonder why.

The article doesn't estimate the total number of insurgents. I've heard 200,000 part-time/40,000 hardcore full-time, as estimated by Iraq Director of Intelligence; the US says there are only 20,000 full- and part-time fighters. The article also doesn't say what what percentage of all insurgents are foreign fighters.

Anyway, if Bush makes that claim, it looks like he's going with, "We're keeping America safe by fighting them over there, instead of liberal, antichrist-worshiping, gay parading, therapy-offering New York."
