What qualifies one to be a pundit?
For example Tucker Carlson, someone here has already asked this, what makes him qualified as a pundit? What the f*** has he ever done?

Then there's Max Boot. The guy is 32 years old and he's a "Senior Fellow" at some institute or another. How did he get that title? What does he know about anything?

You tell me.

2. "A Brahman scholar or learned man. " = #1 definition on dictionary.com
or "Used as a title of respect for a learned man in India."

I'm guessing that doesn't apply to most of our "pundits"...

A little further down the page, though, is "a source of opinion."

Hey, whaddayaknow...I'm a pundit, too!

3. "Great moments in punditry...as read by children" on The Daily Show
That reoccurring skit illustrates pretty well the idiocy of most of the TV pundits. If you take away the "serious" looking faces and put the exact same words into the mouths of children the infantile analysis/comments are obvious.

12. Apparently, Nothing
It quite obviously requires no special skill or talent. How else to explain Limbaugh or O'Reilly or Coulter or Malkin or Medved, or any of the other buffoons passing themselves off as opinion makers?

13. You really only need two things:
1) opinions and
2) a platform.

Pundits get their authority more from where they are seen/heard/read than from what they actually have to say. So all you really need to be a pundit is someone with a TV network who thinks you're going to promote his agenda.

C ya,
