6. Flying an ultralight, at least he was enjoying a hobby instead of
flying around doing business or something.

7. How experienced was he with that type of airplane?
Are they unstable the same way (almost) that hang gliders are unstable? It sounds like they are made out of the same stuff, except for the engine of course.

RIP John W.

8. I don't know, the article on msnbc said he was flying an ultralight,
which covers a lot of ground -- from powered parachutes to something fairly sophisticated. I'm sure more details will emerge.

10. Died while flying experimental aircraft.
There are worse ways to go.

The plane he died flying was an experimental ultralight aircraft with a small, gasoline-powered engine and wings wrapped in fabric similar to heavy-duty sail cloth, officials said.

Joan Anzelmo, a spokeswoman for Grand Teton National Park, said Walton, “well-known and much-loved in this valley, died doing something that he loved to do.” Rangers will investigate the crash, as is done with any major accident in the park, she said.

11. i was very interested to learn he was a special forces medic...
in viet nam and headed the philanthropic arm of wal-mart. everything i've read about his sister, though, has been of a rich = holier than thou nature (DUI arrests, etc that she challenges as damaging for the community since she is the pillar), so i guess the good ones are being phased out.

12. Just think, he could have spent some of his time seeing that is employees
made a living wage and had decent health benefits ("Inasmuch as ye have done unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done unto me."). He would only have a few less millions out of his billions...that he could't take with him.
