Question: Karl Rove, DeLay and ARMPAC Money?

If you can find the time to read this 2003 New Yorker article on Karl Rove, you will see that one of the reasons why Texas politicians sought to be clients of Karl Rove was because he knew where and how to get money and influence. Rove became the powerhouse in Texas because with his influence things got done and his clients got elected. To go hand in hand with that, those who donated the funds got what they wanted, too.

Karl Rove was instrumental in changing Texas politics from Democratic to Republican.

Today, he is a strong power behind the Republican party, and the behind the scenes dictator (or to be nice, a framer) of America's policies. As the above article suggests, Rove is the guy who is choosing who will run in America's Republican Congressional and Gubernatorial seats. Anyone can choose to run, but without financing and backing, which Rove seems to control, they won't get very far. For this, Rove, a behind the scene's mastermind, is a dangerous man.

Which leads me to ARMPAC - Americans For A Republican Majority. DeLay's group. ARMPAC which DeLay is embroiled in scandals with Jack Abramoff; and of infamous Texas where Rove for so many years controlled the politics, and I suppose still does.

If you go here: DeLay Index Masterfile you can see how much ARMPAC money is given to various politicians that DeLay chooses to help finance.

I've never thought highly of DeLay and I'm surprised he has been able to manage such a monumental program, as ARMPAC.

My question is this: If Karl Rove is the guy calling the shots in Republican politics and their election campaigns, how close is Rove's hand in the dispensing of ARMPAC's money? Does he tell DeLay who to help?

And, if it is close, then could Karl Rove be just as dirty as DeLay and Abranoff?

Hey! Rove may have clean hands in this, but all things considered, I can't help but wonder what really is going on.

As an aside: "Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquist, and Jack Abramoff
all got their starts as College Republicans, and they zoomed to the top strata of American politics." What in the world did they teach those men? Heaven help the next generation.

1. Morton Blackwell was the mastermind behind the CRNC

Blackwell was the one who turned the College Republicans towards Nixonian dirty tricks. Rove and Atwater (and Roger Stone and Terry Dolan) came out of the College Republicans in Blackwell's day.

Abramoff, Reed, and Norquist were a decade later, but there are still Blackwell connections.

Blackwell also worked for Richard Viguerie's direct-mail fundraising operation in the 70's. Then in 1979, he started the Leadership Institute which has been turning out dirty tricksters ever since.
