gee, everybody seems to be at each others throats now, i long for the good ol' days of little flags everywhere and super patriotic beer commercials and lee greenwood's hyper patriotic music filled the air.

gee whiz and shucks, don't ya miss those days? everybody was on the same team and we were resolved to take on the enemy and kick somebody's, anybody's ass, and we were united. but now we seem divided.

gosh all git out, can't we somehow get back to that good ol feelin' again? i mean, what would it take?

1. Values versus USA, USA, USA ad naseum
Perhaps it would be better for each of us to stop battling the "bad guys" over who the better American is.

Values are more important.

Bush is an American citizen and I am not, but I have values, which would not allow me to invade a country such as Iraq without a valid reason.

2. The division started....
at the exact time bush decided to take his eyes of Bin Laden and concentrate on Saddam instead. The rest is history, although history is still being written.

I can't say that I DO miss the nationalistic fervor so rampant at the time. Gangs of people on street corners bedecked in flag clothing with signs, "honk if you support our troops", "these colors don't run", we stand behind our President"..... Patriotism and blind nationalism are two different things. At that time there were too many blind nationalists and not enough patriots. If we had more patriots at that time perhaps our civil rights wouldn't have been sliced and diced, perhaps we wouldn't be in a war with no end.

I DO miss the days when we all spoke as one. I do miss the days when the United States had the sympathy of the world. Those days were few though because of the bush administrations insistence to take their eyes off the ball to settle an old grudge from the past with Iraq when they had the unwavering support of Americans. We were betrayed. Betrayed by an administration with no foresight and a penchant for heavy handed and divisive measures. THEY are to blame for our division, not those who question the administrations shortcomings.

3. Yes, we were all pretty much behind the Afghan war because evidence
indicated Bin-Laden was behind 9/11. At least the evidence we were shown. We still all knew what a crook and moron bu$h was, but as a nation we knew it was necessary to be one.
Most of us could see the phony propaganda the regime was using against Iraq and Saddam.
That I think is when I said, we have to stop this idiot meaning bu$h. Then the evidence became more and more evident just how crooked the bunch in the white house are and what their plan involved.

All the talk about being a uniter not a divider was the first hint of phony rhetoric to follow.

4. Those days were few, all right.
Within weeks of the attacks I was reading sniping, nasty LTEs complaining that the 9/11 victims' families were out of line for expecting compensation.

Let's face it--a lot of this division has nothing to do with anything Chimpy McFuckstain did about his Warren Terra. A lot of it is the good ol' South/North dissention, and believers/secularists.

We were drawn together, but we were soon reminded of what divides us.

5. When people have slowly started to realize that their patriotic fervor
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 07:27 AM by KlatooBNikto
was based on lies, the ardor has cooled off.Wait till a 9/11 smoking gun emerges just like the DSM. Then it would be the wrath of the people against the Bush menagerie.

6. I remember watching the fools singing
God Bless America on the steps of the capital and thinking to myself "we are now truly fucked". My worst fears at that time have been fully realized.

LIHOP, MIHOP, or fortuitous accident, our reichstag fire has led to a situation as bad or worse than Germany, 1932-1936, before the storm.

Lets start calling it like it is folks. Fascism has executed a 'silent coup' using the dead of 9/11 as cover.

7. The RWers really really blew it.
I doubt such unity will ever happen again... No matter
the circumstances.

People never recover from being used.

8. Blew it?
They control everything and are on their way to establishing one party rule in this country. In what sense have they 'blown it'?

10. Keep watching....
Their response to 9/11 was where they "jumped the shark."

Karl Rove knows this that's why he's trying to bring
the focus back to that event... Since the beginning of Duh-bull
-ya's term their power has been unsustainable.

It'll only last as long as the meme "they're on our side" lasts
in peoples minds. Evidence is revealing to people one-by-one as
they step on so many toes. They are only on their own side.

In order to survive they need to bring back the daze where in
each mind people are under the misconception the thought
in the WH is exactly what they're individually thinking.

Attacking Iraq using 9/11 as the pretext was a huge mistake.
If the general public were to realize they have been misled
they will stop supporting. Americans don't like to be lied to.

The Dems huge mistake is letting them get away with it.

I see cracks in the poll numbers already... The reason it hasn't
happened sooner was due to their maintaining the illusion of
dubs insular every-man mystique, the dems lack of response, and
all the toes haven't been stepped on yet.
