I see the war on Iraq as a necessary outcome of our preeminent
position as a major industrial power. For nearly fifty odd years after WWII, we have wasted our resources in men, material and ideas on armaments, war making and the paraphernalia needed to keep up what Lewis Lapham has appropriately called the Imperial Masquerade. That Imperial Masquerade rested on the idea we will always be number one in industrial production and consumer goods. That has been shattered beyond redemption in the past two decades as one industry after another is biting the dust to old and new competitors who have not just gotten better at our own game but have upped us in many ways. The impending decline and fall of the auto industry, the wholesale liquidation of the IT industry, relocation of entire support industries all mean not just immediate pain to us Americans but a major specter of industrial famine to the coming generations of Americans.

In this situation, the only resource left is the enormous stockpile of weaponry that have been lying dormant and Bush, always ready to use other people's lives to further his ambitions and prodded by a world class bloodthirsty criminal, Ariel Sharon, launched his War on Iraq on cookde up pretexts. The resulting chaos and death is exactly what the doctor ordered for George because he thrives on other people's pain and lacks the intellectual and moral resources to reverse the tide of bankruptcy of our economy.

George is the right man for our times.

1. Can I buy freedom fries with foodstamps? I'll probably need to
know that in the coming years.... imagine a time when China, India, perhaps Germany, France and Spain are deciding how much debt relief to proffer Amurka, how much aid to send her, and whether or not they should start a preemtive war with her in order to safeguard the world against state sponsored terrorism, torture, imperial hegemony, etc etc....

Karl Rove, winner of the part of Charlie Brown, a full length non-animated film.

3. In an economy that is being decimated, the only industry that is
thriving is our war industry where we have no competition. No wonder we gravitate toward what we do best.
