Hubby and I went to dinner tonight and we were discussing the war. I couldn't argue when he told me that Iraq was Vietnam Part II.
Then I though of the Gulf War back in 90. When that ended most Americans were pleased with the results. The casualties were minimal and it was a short war. The goal was accomplished. In other words...We won.
No matter how you felt about that war, would you agree that the victory attained is now meaningless?
In the original Gulf War which I took part in the goal was to kick Saddam out of Kuwait and restore the government. Well he is still out of Kuwait and they still have their government. Now because things are such a mess over there who knows how it may end up and possibly down the road what we are doing in Iraq today may cause our victory to become meaningless.
