1. It is time that we get rid of this misrepresentation
In most of the states, the determination of whether it was red or blue wasn't overwhelming, in fact it was quite close, usually a couple of percentage points. There are red and blue splits in all of the states, cities and counties. It is a false dichotomy, and one we should get rid of.

2. This misrepresentation, too.
Go to this link and tell me that the first map is a misrepresentation.

Why does this map echo the same theme as slavery vs free? Is it really a misrepresentation. There seems to many social-economic statistics that seems to confirm this theme.

4. Ahh, yes. The fierce independant conservatives in Red States
They don't want their hard earned tax dollars going to help some lazy slob in a blue state.

Well, looks like they don't have to worry about it.

Seems that its the lazy slobs in blue states who are propping up the red staters.

6. How's about giving up the false, divisive dichotomy,
And going for a purple America? Much more realistic friend.

Sorry, but each state is divided, with elements of red and blue. And what was a "red" state last year could very well become a "blue" state next.

8. Couched in purple
Purple is red and blue mixed. Bush is not purple: he didn't get elected (sic) by the reds alone, the purple helped. A real dichotomy in that Kerry lost and Bush won (even though that happy purple is all over the place?) Sometimes you have to look at the trees to see the forest and live with that fact you can say yes these states were on his side for the most part and we can label that as fact

3. Is not even accurate

Nevada, West Virginia, and Kansas all came into the Union during the war and were non-slave states.

Also to my knowledge Indiana, Ohio and Iowa remained true to the Union.

5. The Picture
I get is that the maps have 85 to 90% correspondence and that is statistically significant.
