If over 50% of our troops are Democrats
I wonder how the ones serving in Iraq feel about being called Liberals who hate America?

2. I bet it's far less than 50%. Believing that the pubs are friends
of the military is part of the Kool Aid they have to drink.

3. Agreed....
When I was in the Navy (85-88) I knew very few people who called themselves Democrats, let alone liberals

4. but in that era a Republican and his minions
didn't send you to a war under trained, under manned, and under equipped. There weren't questions about the reasons for the war. There wasn't a completely different reality on the ground than the one being portrayed to the American people. And Reagan didn't push the military, through his policies, to a crumbling brink (eg cant meet recruitment goals - so keep calling back up guardsmen, keep periodically imposing stop-gap, etc.)

I would venture to guess that going over there, there were far fewer than 50% enlisted who considered themselves dems. I would also venture to guess that while there, may have begun to reconsider their affiliation.

5. I have always questioned these numbers
I keep being told that the majority of enlisted persons are Dems but I just don't see it. I visited my cousin at Shaw AFB last month and spent time walking her dog in enlisted housing neighborhoods. I lost count of how many Bush/ Cheney bumper stickers I saw - never saw a Dem sticker!

6. They call themselves Bush supporters
If they know what's good for them. My husband's work is closely associated with the nearby air force base and he works with them everyday. He's served Kool-aid all the time. Most of it he dismisses, but some of it he drinks, which leads to a hell of an evening for us afterwards. Anyway, at the time of the election, a lot of people there were sharing their secret with him that they were voting for Kerry, some saying Bush is too much of a fascist.

7. We are talking about Guard and Reserve Troops, I would
have to agree that 50% are at least Democrats. Those are the kids that are in it for the education.
