Full Scale PR Offensive Underway on Iraq
The Bushies saw the dismal polls, and here is their response:

1) Get Rumsfeld and the Joint Chiefs in front of Congress, and televise their answers broadly.
2) Get an Iraqi minister on Newshour and follow the script closely.
3) Get Cheney on Wolf Blitzer.
4) Get Stephen Hadley on Charlie Rose.

Any others?

Classic Bush Propoganda campaign, with the compliant media playing its part. The answer is always the same: We cannot provide a timetable - that would be a 'lifeline' to the "terrorists." The insurgents are losing political popularity and legitimacy. We have a strategy. We are making progress. progress. Progress. Progress. (Repeat as needed) It's actually an amazing display. A carpet-bombing of the media even, with the media taking it with a smile (not one media person has suggested that these people are taking part in a coordinated effort as a result of the bad polls).

Will we see a bump in Iraq / Bush approval after the all-out assault? If there is no bump by this time next week, then the Bushies are in serious, serious trouble. They're throwing it all at these polls.

1. Next trick....
Watch for Daddy putting "JEB" up as next President of the US.... I realize that he has already mentioned this and it may very well happen if this regime is not taken down.

8. If he's not mentioned for 2008
then my guess would be 2012 and they "let" a democrat be president in 2008. That way they can regroup and make better plans and gain more support etc.

2. #5 is to continue to render and torture more Muslims around the world
producing even more problems for the Bushies, and the US, which means that Points 1-4 will have to be ratchetted up even further.

Plan on seeing a lot of hand-wringing and straw grasping from the WH in the next few weeks.

3. Rove was on Scarborough tonight.
He defended his earlier statements as 'correct' and smeared Moveon.org. Just saw a few seconds in passing, will try to catch the replay.

To me, Rove looked like a cold-blooded pariah. REAL scary.

4. But as of today 61 American soldiers were killed in Iraq this month alone
They can't throw enough shitballs from their cages at us to change those numbers.

6. Rove went back to propaganda basics when he said Dems were weak on 9-11
He was relaying the baseline of the propaganda beat so that Hannity, Rush and the rest of the rightwing noise machine could riff on it. It doesn't matter that it was a lie, many Americans respect good liars or would rather be lied to, anyhow all good propaganda starts with a lie.

9. Exactly
Gotta rally the base up a bit for the poll numbers and to remind people who's "winning" the "war on terror."

5. yes

But the facts still screw them up. They can revive some support...only to see it crumble away to stay away as the facts keep on intruding.

If they don't get a bump of 2-3%, they should probably just resign- because it's hopeless to hang in there.

Their fall 'campaign' of a year and a half ago was about as energetic and only gained them a delay equivalent to a month's decline in polling over the course of three or four months. A pretty expensive and futile exercise when Abu Ghraib hit.

7. The thing about marketing is that if the message continues
to be the same old "sticht", it loses it's effectiveness. As numb as the American public is, it is beginning to see that the administration basically lies and covers up everything.
