Peggy Noonan SLAMS Klein's book.
That's right. RR's old speech writer doesn't like Klein's book on Hillary.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110006855

"I have read the Hillary book by Ed Klein,... ...The book is poorly written, poorly thought, poorly sourced and full of the kind of loaded language that is appropriate to a polemic but not an investigative work."

Gee. Who would have thought it?

1. BS
I'm pretty sure that all of these public condemnation's of Klein's book by high profile wingnut pundits (Noonan, Hannity, O'Reilly) is really just a way to plug the book's profile and get the hate message and slander publicized all while "denouncing" its content.

Frankly, if you really were against it, you'd STFU and let it go away rather than promoting it with the attention.

4. Rightwingers heard about this book a long times ago, and
saying a book in poorly written doesn't help sales.

8. Nope
but in their very condemnations they repeat the malicious talking points while "debunking" them. Far more people see Hannity and/or O'Reilly than will read the book. They will be exposed to these lies second-hand -- wink, wink.

bashing this book.

Even Sean Hannity did, and I'm sure that wasn't a matter of integrity on his part. He got orders.

Peggy Noonan is a guest on Fox News.

11. Some Truth To That...Try This
The old sales saying is "say good, say bad, but say".

O'Falafel says "I won't waste time doing a show on the book", but does so for 4 nights running. It's like your parent saying "don't look in the closet" and you are compelled to look.

The game appears to be to slime Hillary, but don't let it stick to anyone big. This is just a flanking manuever, as whatever goofy crap is in here will now float into hate radio and right wing chit-chat as "assumed fact". It then will be codified, so that it will be assume that Hillary is a Lesbian and was raped by Bill. Welcome to the Clinton parlor game.

My take is Nooner is doing the same game here...cause if she thought it was the worthless tripe she say it is, why is she writing about it?

19. All too sadly.....
.... I agree with you. They all doth protesteth too much.

People say that if Hillary sued Klein, it would just call attention to the book. I say if she is silent, it is all assumed to be true.

There is no good way to combat this stuff, but if it were me and I had the resources, I'd tie up the author and the publisher in court for a long time, and I'd make sure that at the very least they lose their asses financially on this book.

5. I think it's pretty obvious why all the conservatives are suddenly
springing to her defense, after almost fifteen YEARS of roasting her alive: they WANT her to remain viable long enough to be a serious candidate in 08, because they know that her negatives will always be inherently higher than any other dem out there (except Dean, upon whom they can count on their friends in the media to do a better job of character assassination than they could hope to do).

then, if she gets the nomination, just watch them go back into their normal mode of hysterical negativism towards her

think this isn't part of a plan?

I smell a huge rat or two, like rove/norquist, anyone?

10. zackly....that was implicit in what I typed, but I forgot to put it in
not that they have anything to worry about with the pesky election process anymore

they've taken care of that just fine, and the MSM will black out any coverage at all of just how easily elections can be/have been stolen

have you heard ANYthing about the dems' wanting to revisit the 2000/2004 (not to mention 2002) election travesties?

9. Funniest part...
The "Crazy Jesus Lady," as World O'Crap calls her, FORGETS that she wrote her own book about Hillary...

"What is needed is a big and serious book by respected reporters who can dig, think and type, and whose sourcing standards are high and unimpeachable. Will that happen? It would be big if it did."

Second funniest: "Mr. Klein's problem is that he assumes the market is conservative and conservatives are stupid. They're not, actually. "

14. gee, funny thing about the quote linked above...
"What is needed is a big and serious book by respected reporters who can dig, think and type, and whose sourcing standards are high and unimpeachable. Will that happen? It would be big if it did."

there WAS a book that was very close to what she described....it was written by.....David Brock!

it was remarkably even handed, written by a RW hit man, and we all know what happened to him as a result of his being honest for the first time

13. It sounds like this book deserves to be panned
The most sensational charge would seem to be the one about Chelsea being conceived as the result of rape.

And how would anybody know that? Is Hillary making that charge? Were there witnesses to the conception?

Who is Ed Klein's source for this garbage? Did Hillary confide in Linda Tripp?

15. can anybody say "backlash?" maybe Klein did all this on purpose
to HELP her, as well as feathering his own nest. he KNOWS that there's a gigantic market of mouthbreathing Klintoon haters out there, and he had to know that writing a bunch of insanely exaggerated bullroar about her would guarantee huge sales, and allow him to retire in comfort.

he must have also known that there'd be quite a negative reaction, with resultant sympathy for her at the outrageous charges, so that, in the end, it might actually benefit her

are the pug weasels reacting to what they see as the early backlash, and trying to keep the nasty charges in the spotlight, merely by repeating them, while claiming to condemn them (also makes THEM look reasonable for a change).....you know: I HATE the fact that people are saying Bill RAPED poor Hillary---say that over and over and over, and people remember the part about the rape, not the part about him not raping her

are they that smart?

who knows

look how well they did on their six year turd-polishing effort; the media still is pushing that tired BS about Bush being a popular president (even with the caveat that it's with his trog base)

21. I doubt Mr. Klein needed this book to build a nest egg
Whatever negative reaction he might have expected, he must be surprised that some of it coming from the likes of Sean Hannity. The only people who are going to eat this up are people who pick up Clinton bashing the same way lonely dirty old men pick up pornography.

are the pug weasels reacting to what they see as the early backlash, and trying to keep the nasty charges in the spotlight, merely by repeating them, while claiming to condemn them

I doubt they'll keep it in the spotlight. Once people like Hannity and Noonan give their views on the book, they'll just move on to more important things, like apologizing for torture and telling us why there's nothing wrong with lying to start a war of aggression. The book, hopefully, will be last year's news by next week.

18. "the calculating this-isn't-the-whole-truth part" - P Noonan
Obligatory Noonan quote, showing she knows full well what filthy business she is in.

(...)
Bush 1: "...I want a kinder, and gentler nation."

commentator: "This Bush campaign phrase was written by spin doctor and speech writer Peggy Noonan".

PN: "... because America is so infused by media that we're all spinning in a way."

Q: "We're embellishing our story?"

PN: "Embellishment is ok, there's..."

Q: "What's not ok? Where does spin begin?"

PN: "The disingenuous part, the calculating this-isn't-the-whole-truth part."

22. It is all about more publicity for the book
You will be hearing more and more of this. Talking heads saying the book is just horrible, shocking, harsh language, etc. etc. All in hopes of getting the book mentioned as often as possible and creating a curiosity about it. If these people of all people say it is harsh then by God it must be a doozy so we'll have to check it out right away....

27. I'm not surprised
She's still obviously in love with the ghost of Ronald Reagan, and her fawning after him and all things Reagan is pretty nauseating. She seems to have a sweet spot for the ass in the WH now, too. But she's often been more honest than many of the flacks you see on TV for the GOP. And she is usually rather well-spoken and well-presented. I've never seen her be rude. Wrong, but not rude.

Klein has totally over-reached himself on this. It will hit him, and that's very good.
