What if America tithed to the world?
2,568,000,000,000 that's the US Spending Budget for Fiscal Year 2006.

2.568 trillion dollars.

What's 10%?

$256,800,000,000

Imagine, if the US decided to give this amount of money away to the world as a tithe, which is what all good Christians are expected to do with 10% of their income.

If we are a "Christian nation" then let's put our money where our mouth is and give to the world.

2. I'm afraid we'll have to convert that into food and medicine
and oversee the distribution of that if we want any contribution to the world to do much good.

Corrupt governments offload relief items on Monday and ship them out on Wednesday in exchange for currency they use to buy weapons.

Everything intended to keep their people alive is exchanged for hardware that will be used to oppress them.

Giving them money will simply make it easier for them to buy war toys.

6. I was wondering about that yesterday...
all the UN agreements we break, the Geneva Convention, etc., why are there no consequences? Is it because we control the UN so much that it's impossible to make us comply? Seems like we should be sanctioned...

7. I wonder how long it's going to be
before the world tires of us and decides we need a timeout. I think that maybe I'd give all these U.N. haters their way and move it to Europe or somewhere else.

10. Lots of negatives from liberals
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 06:09 PM by Dems2002
Interesting to see quite a few negatives from "liberals." The amount is a bit more than half of the defense budget.

I find it interesting that instead of running with the idea and imagining all of the many ways this could improve the world, the immediate reaction is that bad governments would steal, we already pay it, or that we can't afford it.

Might I say we're sounding a bit republican?
