"Dems have declared war on the Christians"..words in The House
on Cspan right now. Thank God someone(don't know who) stood up and objected. The current status is "Words Taken Down" meaning the words are then transcribed by a clerk and read back, The chair will rule on their fitness.

If ruled out of order, the Member can not speak again that day without permission.

I wonder what the ruling will be? It was refreshing to hear someone somewhat shouting an objection!

4. It's about bloody time SOMEBODY objected to these lying bastards!
Most congressional Democrats seem to be sitting there, just collecting their salaries and watching their pensions accrue and hoping nobody notices them enough to want to put out a hit on them.

The most shameful thing the party of thieves, liars, traitors, crooks, and warmongers has done has been to claim sole ownership of Christ. They are the antichrist, following policies completely opposite to what Christ taught.

It's high fucking time some Democrat grew the courage to call them on it.

20. I wonder . . .
Will every Republican on every talk show for the next week have to either acknowledge and assent to what Hostettler said or disavow it and make him look like some marginal subdefective? I'm guessing no.

When Durbin made his comment, every Republican in the nation it seemed jumped on it, twisted it, turned it into a slam on the military, and then demanded that it be withdrawn and that Durbin apologize for quoting from an FBI report on the conditions at Guantanamo.

In this case, as far as I can tell, Hostettler was pandering to his religious kook base and demeaning not only Democrats but a huge segment of the Christian community. He wasn't quoting an FBI report, he didn't make this intemperate statement in response to anything that had actually happened. He said it for the benefit of the itching ears of the religious right, who love to fancy themselves as oppressed and persecuted because they aren't allowed to hate while using the Gospels as a shield from public approbation. Les pauvres!

But no one will call Hostettler on it, and certainly other Republicans won't be called to disavow such a hateful, hurtful, uninformed rant by the "liberal" media.

16. And thus it starts.
A meme going around the RW echo chamber, Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly and the rest of their ilk. Then some RW nut in Congress puts it down on record. Passed around water coolers and soccer games nationwide, with evangelical preachers pounding it out at the pulpit.

And before you know it, the Dems and the liberals will be walking around with yellow Ls sewn on our clothes, and numbers tatooed on our wrist. We came very close during the McCarthy era, very close. And we're now treading the edge of that cliff again.

Think I'm crazy, paranoid, a little loose in the ol' brainstem? God, I hope that I am. But with the incredible amounts of hate that I'm seeing from the RW, and the RW fundies, with every fascist step this misadministration takes, we are getting closer and closer to my vision.

42. I got rolling on the DSM because of Malloy.
So I know that works.

There was a guy on Randi's show talking about how
our local paper said the DSM "wasn't news." I got
on the phone with Thom Hartmann, our local talk
guy here, and he has been pounding the subject ever
since.

The paper ran a Page One story about the DSM
yesterday with a two-page foldout inside.

This sentiment is just such a huge part of the anti-PC
crowd -- you know, God and the pledge, that' judge's
momument -- that it's seeped into the mainstream and
has become conventional wisdom.

I don't see how we challenge that just based on this
though.

40. I love it.
Dems (some, at least) are unabashedly at war with the repubs.

Dean says the repubs are mostly white, christian.

Repubs call that a smear, implying that it is not true.

But repubs also will agree that dems are hostile against repubs.

If dems are hostile to repubs, and repubs are NOT a white, christian party, just how are dems at war with christians?

I'm so glad I'm not a repub. That kind of thinking makes my head hurt too much.

53. This reminds me of set theory problems in High School.
What conditions would be necessary to make this assertion true. "Democrats are at war with Christians". List variables for Democrats and non Democrats.

Task:
Draw a diagram that includes Democrats, Republicans (non-Democrats), those at war as they relate to Christians. Illustrate and explain your diagram. Explain the given condition that might allow Democrats to be at war with Christians.

Remember:
Most absolutes are false

Hint:

All Christians are Democrats. False
All Christians are Republicans. False
Some Christians are Democrats. True
Some Christians are Republicans. True
Some Democrats are at war with Republicans. True
Some Republicans are at war with Democrats. True

Explain why the assertion "Democrats are at war with Christians" is not logical.

Sounds like fun.
