amber dog democrat replied to a PM I had sent & we got into the following discussion. These are the things we need to talk about with our peers and the uninformed. What are your thoughts on this conversation?
amber dog democrat: <snip> Say, is it just me or does the Chimp admin seem to be at a tipping point ?
Unless we do something brilliant like invade Mexico or declare war on Greenland I don't know what beyond a nu cu lar attack could unify most Americans against yet another common foe.
Every passing day the Chimp seems more like a lame-duck-Darth Vader, (only he is not as smart ).
Your thoughts ?
unhappycamper: I like to think of what's going on right now is the beginnings of a "truth tsunami." All the grassroots efforts: DU, blogs, VFP, VVAW, IVAW, United for Peace and Justice, local peace groups, freewayblogging & the like are the groundswell of the tsunami.
Silence = complicity. Silence is becoming unacceptable. Comment added during post: I should not have used the word becoming: Silence is unacceptable.
Find an issue that someone is concerned about & talk intelligently about the truth. Get them curious. Get them thinking. Get them googling. It's happening across the country if you pay attention. It's slow; it's painfully slow. But it is effective. And it's working.
Uhc
amber dog democrat: but you are right.
There are finite limits to the abuse of power. I am reminded of a quote by Victor Hugo: "Nothing is so powerful as an idea whose time has come".
I think some fundamental change is in train. Americans still basically see themselves as a free people and a wake up call is going to happen. How soon? I don't know but the Neocon way of doing things is going to become increasingly more difficult to maintain as more and more Americans wake up and realize what is at stake.
It’s all the lying that will be their undoing, that and the cost in lives and treasure.
I sometimes look at the SUVs with the bush stickers on them and feel both pity and anxious for these mis informed at best ideologues. Its almost like they are the source of the disease that is undoing us all and I can't think of anything good to say about their convictions. In a way I am glad to see the stickers.
They are like nature's warnings telling us what insects and arachnids to avoid.
unhappycamper: Can I post this conversation as a thread? This discussion is fundamental (hate to use that word) to who and what we are.
amber dog democrat: Dear UHC,
And this is perhaps the best time. This is the beginning of the transition. I am savoring watching some of the Repug politicians seeing the winds shifting and getting poised to tack away from the Bush Admin domestic and foreign policies. I suppose a real leader determines where people are going ( for good or ill ) and then gets in front of them. This may be the dawning of the age of the " I told you so" . Are these Repug leaders who are now wanting an exit strategy showing timidity or temerity or strategic adaptability ? You decide. all the same, I love seeing this happening. Things are starting to unravel, worms are turning, and chickens may be on the final approach, cleared to roost, ( there could be a fat lady warming up in the wings as well ), and its better that the Repugs controlled everything first. They want to rig the game and run rough shod over their opposition, Then who's to blame if nobody else plays along ? these are some passing thoughts but maybe its still too early to gloat, or is it ?
Go for it. Yes, ADD
unhappycamper: Thanks. I've got to go grocery shopping and will clean it up & post it when I get back. It's an interesting conversation & I suspect it will generate some interest.
