Brain Storm - What are some ways to get the message out about the DSM?

I suggest we brain storm on ideas to get the message out better but just as important come up with ways to act on these ideas!!!!

Just a few ideas:

1. More websites and links to regular non news sites.
2. Billboards on major freeways.
3. A 527 that can raise money for prime time advertising on TV, News Papers and Radio (It would be nice if an Iraq Veterans For Truth 527 developed because people would listen to veterans and not question their motives).
4. More letters to the editor and news orginizations.


OK, now it's time for everyone to brain storm and then act on the best ideas. I suggest we get this down to perhaps 3 ways to act then get organized and start raising hell!

A woman spoke up and said to get those cheap glow sticks and spell Read the Downing Street Memo at www.downingstreetmemo.com on your back windshield. I plan to do this as soon as I can.

I think that could have a small impact but I think we need to do some things on a national level. National advertising.

They were awesome.

They went right to the point and could be printed in two minutes.
I don't know how to do a search and insert a picture but look for graphics by BIGBEARJOHN.

We "distributed" them all over... friends at parties.left in shopping baskets, magazines in the doctors office, between Throw Away Newspapers, seat in the movie.

We have got to be our own NEWSPAPER!

I just posted to an earlier thread about how we need to get this off the DU and in front of the public. #4 is useless to me as I live in "Fuck You", Texas where anything Bush says, rules, but other areas where legislature members are more reasonable should contacted. I think beating on the media and supporting groups like afterdowningstreet.org, and others like them (J. Conyers site) is equally important. Those groups have the access to lawyers that can turn the language of DSM and any spewings from the Bush Administration into legal positions that can be presented in court.

As long as you have the cash to pay for it. A local conservative radio station here in Albuquerque had to play liberal ads during the elections.

20. What about an

'infomercial'? Someone has to be listening to those late night half hour slots. They don't seem too expensive to do from the way they are put together. A couple of ordinary people sitting around a kitchen table talking about what the news didn't show tonight, something like that.

and have been going around to malls (ladies rooms, dressing rooms), the library and places and leaving them around. If you take a roll of tape you can tape it to the wall behind the door. Someone has to sit there and see it at least. If no one else the cleaning people have to pick it up when they come in. No way to know if it is working or not but it's better than just sitting here.

13. Check the freeway blogger.

I think it's www.freewayblogger.com - the guy whose signs reach three million people a week - for about 35 bucks. He has pictures. He uses big home-made signs that he posts on freeway overpasses. So the morning commute sees this banner on the way to work, and you get the opposing traffic in the afternoon.

All these ideas are good. There should be a "did you get the memo?" sticker that's available somewhere to print out and stick in random public places. Mirrors and windows. Signs. Sign posts. Bulletin boards. Maybe you're standing around at the news stand and can slip one or two in between the pages of some popular magazine like "People" or "US Weekly" or "Family Circle" or "Ladies Home Journal" or "Cosmo." Or "Sports Illustrated." Or something. I can think of a few grocery stores and Starbucks and record stores and other watering holes where a few could be mysteriously just left lying around...

And every time you're standing in line - to buy stamps, to use the ATM, to pay for groceries, to buy movie tickets, to pick up your burger order, your dry cleaning, feeding the parking meter the same time as another person near you is feeding his or her meter, while you're filling up at the self serve gas pump, WHATEVER. Just little random whiffs and murmurs. Snide comments. Invoking the "I" word - IMPEACHMENT, how bush is a LIAR, the war is a LIE, people died for a LIE, "...and they impeached Clinton for a stained blue dress..." little drop-ins like that. Quick hits. Like my sparring teacher would say - "quick jabs, get in, WHAM, and get right back out."

22. There is a big wall

that separates my street of apartment buildings with the strip mall beyond, where the local gangs and taggers use for signifying.
Every couple months the wall gets a fresh paint job in a new color, which it got two days ago, but the first taggers were not the usual suspects. The first spray paint on the wall after the fresh coat was up said:

IMPEACH the MURDERER

Wow! I was exhilarated! The gangbangers came after and DID NOT paint anything near it. It remains as a thing of beauty, untouched, for all to see.

I get a charge out of thinking all the people on my street who see it. And don't touch it. At least for a couple months...

Go to Office Depot or Staples & get Avery labels in whatever size you want. Use Word or Print Shop or something to say whatever you want, like:

You can print out a whole sheet of them at a time, on white, on colors, or on transparent film.

DUers should be writing LTTE about this. Letters are one of the most important sections of a newspaper. Readers tend to pay attention to the LTTE, and editors do, too.

15. I stood @ a busy intersection w/my Impeach Bush/AfterDowningStreet.org

... sign for a few hours again today... can't afford a billboard. Lots of cheers, waves, honks, etc. Lots of people yelling things like "impeach Bush", "fuck Bush", "Bush lied & took us to war", "he lied", "send the bastard to Gitmo", and on and on. Lots of elderly people cheering, too... waves, honks, 'thumbs up', 'ok' signs, etc. Got a couple of one-fingered 'waves', too... I waved back (w/all fingers) & asked if they lost their other fingers in Iraq.

I've also taken to leaving literature in libraries, lobbies, waiting rooms, churches... any & every place that I can.

one friemd said she used to delete my stuff..but now she finds herself caught up in the stuff for an hour a day...i asked her if an hour a day was too much to ask of her to be a "we the people"..to be a part of the united states of america...she pondered and said..you are right..no its not...

another came to visit and is now so disgusted with * and this whole admin..and she asked..how did i know all this stuff...when the media are such liars...she even tested it as we were in a poll..she asked another lady in the pool if she knew * was lying about all thats going on...the other lady ( a woman on a school board we found out)..said she would support * even if he lied about war/..well my friemd was appalled...now this is a staunch repub...but no longer...

so zero in on 10 friends..and be relentless with the downing street stuff..send it even if they ask you not to!!..

just keep it up every day..eventually they can not ignor the info!!
